72 hours of darkness?

I watered my plants with ice water and put them in 72 hours of darkness. I’m cutting them down tommarow but I looked at them and they they dried out and are drooping is this normal

Its drooping because thats dumb stoner methods not how to really grow.
Right? Why do people do weird things to grow pot? Just freaking grow it the way its supposed to be grown or has been proven to work. Then when you're familiar with what you're doing and growing; then try to squeeze more grams and potency out of it.

I mean I know why people do the dark period thing. It's believed(and maybe even proven) by stressing the plant out so much, it'll think its going to die and it'll try ALL it can do pass on its genetics(make seeds), by putting its sexual reproduction into overdrive(ie make more 'frost').

I'm not sure what OP was hoping for when they watered with ice water. My guess is more stress..

i like it when people experiment! However, let me suggest you try comparing two plants or clones of same strain or plant, try one with and one without, and see which method achieves the best result (“damn the ice water and darkness plant is twice as strong as the other!”). In my experience, some stress at the end may produce a faster finish, but nothing increases potency or resin except genetics or UV light....but you gotta try that stuff to find out

UV seems pointless and complex, leds might need some and it may be present in some other lights but i never seen a correlation really to the point im going to add it at any time in the future. Needs more time to develop imo and was never really a concern.

i’m going to let you study that topic some more, but can say without question that UV light, especially UVb is massively important to achieving the strongest, most potent herb possible. The resin on buds actually serves as a sunscreen and increases massively in response to UV stimulation (it’s why they added CMH spectrum to most HPS grows, before everyone became so enamored with LEDs). Try adding some UV next time or even better, grow in natural sunlight...you will get the strongest herb possible. Good luck!!

The problem is you didn't put a stake through the stalk to split it so that the ice water could go up one side and back down the other flushing all the nutrients out of the plant. Ice water sends a rush of nutrients into the plant. The droopiness is from the plant being bloated and feeling sick due to all those nutrients that were carried up into the plant with the ice water. It's full and just wants to take a nap.

Since you didn't split the stalk there isn't a route for the nutrient filled ice water to exit the plant carrying all the excess nutrients back into the soil. The water can go up but there is so much force from the incoming water that it can't get back out of the plant. Splitting the stalk would have created two pathways just like the roads cars drive on going different directions. You may be able to poke holes in the stem towards the top of the plant. The Ice water should be able to spray out taking all the excess nutrient with it.

When you actually harvest don't cut the plant off at the base. Pull it up with the root ball intact and plunge it into a pot of boiling water. That will force all the resin into the buds making them sweet and sticky.

It's amazing some of the great discoveries Stoner Science has made.

Yes i know the topic all to well, fifteen years ive watched stoners add UV to everything with no extra yeilds quality or trikes. Its been done to death, a full spectrum with uv is slightly better but your hyping it like your going to see noticable differences and leds have found some holy grail of light.

More amazing is how these discoveries are found.

Did anyone do a legitimate side-by-side test where every single thing is equal except what's being tested? Nope, the results are "this grow produced five times as much yield than I had two grows ago. No, the strains weren't the same. No, the medium wasn't the same. No, I didn't document or photograph findings. No, they weren't grown under the same lights or conditions, but I know that it worked!".

I’ve tried both ways with the same strain. Only noticeable difference is color. One had more pronounced coloring while the other didn’t. Trich production was the same, as well was the smoke and high. Maybe it works for bag appeal if you sell. People are naturally drawn to what “ looks “ better, but looks can be deceiving....

Too much UV and they start growing things that shouldn't be there

The prolonged dark period is the technique they used to make white widow so frosty years ago. I think the kelvin rating of the bulb during late flower has a lot to do with trike production. But that's just me. bongsmilie

People out here aren’t following the scientific method I mean am I right?

I don't know what you mean about "out here" and "scientific method".

The only scientific method I know that works is to provide the essential elements and nutrients to the plant (there are less than 20 of them), and they will grow and produce.

That's the law I follow, with slight adjustments per strain or per plant along the way regarding the actual amount of each nutrient and element.
