I need honest opinions on miracle gro mediums

I see that's the cactus version. That one's gonna have way better drainage and less fertilizer since it's for desert plants than regular MG. You did a nice job with it, but I will never buy it again. It is interesting though.

Are you getting runoff when you water, and how much?
I have another grow in normal mg soil mix and it’s beautiful, root bound I have to repot but beautiful and all I do is water, the plant with the soil your asking about holds water for about 3 days tops and runoff I would say is not a lot the soil holds lots of water

When you post a picture of a healthy plant like that grown in Miracle-Gro with just water you make growers that have some special blend of soil they mixed up, a dozen bottles of nutrients and additives, and sick plants really frustrated. Glad you posted as it allows people to see that you don't need special cannabis products to grow good plants.

Thank you for making that point because that’s my goal here to show people you really don’t need all that expensive soils to produce the same end result that can be done with a $5 bag of mg soil and $10 for a bucket of jacks classic for flower all in trying to do is save people money and providing proof but people don’t believe me haha

You proved you could do it, but I still don't think it's the best advice to give to the new guys. Most don't have a green thumb, lol.

I'm impressed with what you did with it though.

Oh I believe it... because 1 it has super dark green leaves which means an excess of nitrogen.
I also see burnt leaf tips which indicate nute burn.
The reason most dont use mg soils (the ones that are time released) is because there is better soil out there that wont cause toxic build up of nutes in your plants.

I agree, I mean it never hurts to give them a little boost. But shit, if you get the result you want then you did it right. Ive grown water only and bloom booster at the end side by side to a full line of advanced nutrients used the whole life cycle and their was a lot more micro growth and way more intersecting nodes, but the plants were around the same height, leaves were around the same, more growth on the advanced nutrient plant. The root mass was a bit more dense looking. The difference In bud wasn't really all that great, the advanced bud was a bit denser and the terps were a bit more defined, but the yield was nearly the same. And considering how much money a full line of nutes, or a super soil mix cost, the water and minimalist approach seems to be the better end of the trade off.

That’s from the jacks I went heavy because half a scoop wasn’t solving my deficiency issues when flower started and I also dim the lighting when I focuse with my camera to get more details in the pictures that’s not 100% true color but I’m not disagreeing because I know I went extra heavy on the jacks because the plant was very light and leaves were turning yellow

I just like the promix because for 40 or 50 bucks I can a giant bale that will be more than enough for 8 or 10 plants in 5 to 7 gallon pots. And i just love the way it smells. Lol

I also have really good drainage so There’s definitely no buildup of anything I thoroughly water and basically do a flush specifically so there is no buildup because I’m aware that’s a possibility with mg because of the slow releasing pellets

Well you are new to growing. I hope you dont get set in your ways and think mg soil is the only way to go. I started off in it myself... because it's what my mom grew her garden in for yrs.... I did okay but I lived and learned as so many did.
The soil itself is not the issue... it's their time released crap ferts. If I was still using it I wouldnt be growing the monsters I do is all I know.

Anyways ...good luck to you.

yeah the pellets are my only hangup when it comes to something like that. But I'm sure they make plenty of ones with out it. But honestly man, if I could buy Bonnie's plants farm soiless peat, or anything local, or for farm or seomthing like that I would. Just not To support the mega Corp that owns mg. Their literally the devil.

But so far in all my grows it was never an issue for me for some reason people must not water properly or something that’s the only time I ever ran into issues if I missed a watering I’ve been growing for a year and a half now so Im still learning but so far that’s the only thing that caused an issue missing a watering in miracle grow you might lose some leaves from what I’m assuming is salt buildup but if watered correctly you can 100% pull off a veg cycle but for flower it needs a boost but I’m pretty sure most soils do

Is Miracle-Gro the best soil to use? Probably not. Can you grow weed with it? Yes and you proved it.

I've seen many plants over fertilized and just plain nasty despite using some of the "better" soils and a bunch of fancy nutrients. Those that take the time to learn about how plants grow can do good with almost anything. The Marijuana Plant section is full of people using every cannabis specific product under the sun and still end up chasing their tail from one deficiency to the next.

As far as Miracle-Gro goes there is absolutely nothing wrong with their Performance Organics soil. But it's no cheaper than FFOF. But it is available in places where people can't get anything else.

And with the medium I use it’s very light so the roots get lots of oxygen so that definitely contributes to the vigorous growth I experienced all my plants exploded with growth that’s why I love mg and trust me I don’t like contributing to big corps but I’m a budget guy so it’s kinda my best option but over time I definitely learned the ins and outs of the mediums and how to properly use it for marry

Oh no doubt. Even when you use amendments like guya green, or mix a super soil, you have redress them everycso often and hit them with a little something extra to get that premo flower production which is what its all about man. Whatever gets the the juiciest nugs is what works. And if your nugs are phat from that simple of a process then you gotnit whooped for just a year and a half of growing. So many people spend so much money and so much time on so much shit just to produce bigger and better bud, they end up spending half the grow correcting deficiencies from all the bs.

Oh definitely not the best medium but as far as I can see if done properly mg has lots of potential and it’s cheap that’s all I wanted to share

For sure, I don't know where your from but if you live in Canada they have some of the best peat mediums in the world, most of it comes from the artic in Canada. Their should be many to choose from. And if you can buy local, buy local. When ya get the cheddar.
