New second grow advice for best yield?

Hey guys and gals Lindsay new at this second time in years. I have done a tremendous amount of research to get up to date on growing. I have 3 nice babies in week 6, 2 are showing a bit of leaf curl nothing bad only on the latest set of leaves do not know the strain for they were older seeds started in solo cups now in 2 gallon pots using 2 to 1 mix of sphagnum peat moss and and top soil from my yard shifted and mixed. PH is at 6.8 trying 5/1/1 Alaskan fish fertilizer started at 1/4 tlb spoon per gallon at 3 weeks Went to 1 tablespoon at week 4. Now moving up to 2 tablespoons per gallon. The babies are nice and green about 10 inches tall and Look great other then the slight curl in the 2. Humidity looks good lights are at 12 inches leaves are perky and soil tests in the normal range for moisture and fertilizer, it’s might be nothing just trying to stay ahead of my game. Looking for some advice on achieving the most yield... Any advice would be most appreciated!!!! Thanks guys and gals!!!

When I hear only 10 inches tall, nice and green, and leaf curl. Followed by increased fertilizer usage I think someone might be starting to overfeed their plants.

But without a picture I'm just speculating.

Those are 6 weeks old? Mine is that size in 3 weeks. Not saying they don't look healthy lol are you lacking lighting?

They look good to me. What are you using for a medium? Looks a little dense, I don't see anything for aeration there.

To maximize your yield your going to want to look into some training methods like topping or bending your plants. But to be honest, the best thing you could do for your yield is get a better light. Blurple rarely leads to major yields

Perfect Enviroment + Good lighting + good genetics - no grower error + long enough veg time = Good yields.

Looks good. From your description I was expecting a dark green plant with shiny leaves and curled leaves from too much nitrogen. That's obviously not the case.

The plant looks good. It might be getting a tad bit stretchy but that's about the only thing. In the future you should try and get some better soil or at least add some compost, perlite, and worm castings. You need aeration. That soil will likely start getting compacted.

Hahaha it sounds so simple when you make an equation out of it.

Honestly....enviroment is just as if not more important that lighting. Work on getting that dialed in first, upgrade the lights and go from there.

Thanks for all the help man, Ben a long time since I grew any bud, soil is light and fluffy only time I can really pack it is after watering, have been putting them in the sun but it’s been pouring here no sun to set them in and lights I have are not up to speck but I’m working on that and they were real stringy before transplant that made a big difference... When I say 6 weeks that is from germination these seeds Were like 10 years old just wanted to give them a shot before I purchased some good one off line... Thanks I’ll store your advice for the next grow man!!!

Ya man lighting inside not good was gonna try and keep them in the sun but Mother Nature being a pain she been crying on my parade for 2 weeks now and my budget hasn’t let me spend the $100 bucks on a good light array... Thanks for the advise man just getting back into it again!!!!

Question man I’m using Sphagnum peat moss As my medium when I feed I see it penetrate and go down to the roots do I need to do more to improve this??? Also I check the moisture at 4” and 6” with a meter it reads Nor at 6” and Damp to Dry at 4” is that good man???

Since its early and you plan to grow again with bought seeds, I would suggest deciding on 1 of 2 options --

Build a supersoil yourself, or a nice basic soil that you would feed

Buy bagged soil that is set and balanced.

Either option will better guarantee you nice success.

I wanted to ask xtsho for his opinion on why it looks so good but is so small. No offense intended, but i am amazed that it looks great but looks much younger. Im guessing its the soil, but i think that "why"....why did it grow well but slowly, may help the most to improve your grow.

Just straight peat moss? Honestly I've never grown that way so I'm not the best person to ask. If it's similar to coco you'll need a better feed than just fish emulsion because the medium is completely inert. And you should be feeding/watering every day. I'd search up some grow journals that used straight peat and had good results and use those as a guideline in your shoes.

Thank you I’m working on my idea of a super soil and fertilizer, I have set up a worm compost run off unit with cow manure at the base, then peat moss, then oak leaves and soil and compost worms to take care of all the work while catching the Fert runoff to feed with... In getting back into it just don’t have a lot of $ to put into it. I thank you all for the advice it helps out like you don’t know!!!

Fox farms is one of the most common used soils also....you wont need nutes for a good 3-4 weeks using fresh soil.

Lots of variables, likely a combination of a few. Not enough light and nutrients for faster growth, but OP is using fish emulsion which is really high in N (5-1-1) so the plant is staying nice and green. In this case the lack of light may actually be helping it stay healthy because if it was under a monster HID the plant would likely be trying to take up nutrients that weren't there to take full advantage of the available light. Decent chance genetics play something of a roll here too, not all plants grow at the same rate.

Here's 20 seedlings that are 1 week oldish, same medium, same light, 7 strains ... 20 different sizes haha

Thanks man and I do feed every day and they drink it up not counting Evap. The babies go through a gallon every week and yes the moss is kinda like choir over just never used choir but get killer tomatoes using the sphagnum peat moss to grow them in... Thank asking for the info much appreciated man!!!
