I need some tips

My grows always suck. I never get good weed. I always get seeds, but not good seeds that can grow, little white seeds that are useless. It never smells like weed. The buds are always airy and never dense. 1 once overfills a sandwich baggie. That's how fluffy.

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

This last run I've done everything the best I can. This past Saturday was 10 weeks flowering. Overall the buds are fluffy garbage with the yellow pock marks indicating seeds.

I asked a friend of a friend a few questions. And that person goes on explaining they only flower for six weeks. So there is no use continuing the convo. But the FoF did say when they visit that house the entire place smells, not like mine at all.

The grow is in a full sized basement. Temps range between 70/74. Humidity ranges between 60-65%. I run a gallon of water through the three gallon pot then run a half gallon of nutrient solution. Advanced G, M, B and Big Bud. EC is 1.6. At this point the pots dry out in about four days, after saturation. 1000w HPS 30-36" above the tops.

I've tried more than 10 strains, always shwag.

Got any pointers?

Drop that light down to 24"
Thanks.

Yes, I used to have the light that close on the last grows, even closer, 18" or so. The FoF told me that when he goes to other grows they have their 1000W lights four feet above the plants, in 10'-0" tall basements. That's why this grow I had the light up higher. Overtime I've tried many variables.

My soil is FFOF with a mix of perlite.

This FoF brought over a tiny little nug that someone else grew. As big as the tip of my little finger. I broke it up and it made a lot, super dank smell. The gas. He brought over a baggie of leaf cuttings that stunk up my basement Vs my plants do not smell at all.

Got anything else? I'm using a new ballast and a new Hortilux bulb.

You’re cooking the plants too much. 30” is fine. if they aren’t growing good at 30”......24” is only going to make things go faster and get way more out of whack.

thats like saying hey I’m having problems with this 600 hp car you got a 1000 hp one I can try? :wall::wall:

The only observation I have is that around week five the leaves start looking droopy. Around week four I plucked all the very large fan leaves off.

Again, over time Ive left the fan leaves.

You didn't listen to your friend about the six weeks did you?
Of course not, that's a friend of a friend. Maybe they were concealing their secret formula, I don't know. But I have plants in six weeks that are fluffier than 10 weeks.

Here’s some suggestions. I’m not implying that you are doing all these things

You’re using too many nutrients
You’re using nitrogen too late into flowering
You’re not letting the plants go long enough for swelling, changing colors etc
You’re looking at trichomes too soon
You’re probably over watering
You’re ph is not correct
You’re soil is poo poo

these are typical mistakes almost all of them I’ve already made, researched and learned from. They cause the buds to become fluffy, airy, messes.

you’ll get there don’t give up. Number one mistake I was making was too many nutrients

"using too many nurtrients" - I'm using the Advanced Nutrient base and Big Bud. The EC is 1.6. How can I be using too many, if I'm within specifications? On the last grow I used an EC of 1.4. The plants look fine. The grow before that I was using the Advanced Nutrients as directed which gave me an EC in the 2.8/3 range. Back in those EC days it was a race to harvest before the plant disintegrated from nute burn. But the same thing then, the buds were fluffy, no smell....

There is no nutrient build-up. I run a gallon of un treated water through the flower pot before adding the nutrient solution.

Please expand on your comments. I don't know what you mean. I'm just trying to understand.

To look at the trichromes I have a jeweler's headband. I look at them whenever I want. The current crop is going to be 11 weeks old this Saturday. Buds airy. Trics clear as water.

I'm not trying to rebut, trying to figure this out.

quality genetics are pretty important. let them flower for 9 full weeks. only feed once a week until they are looking hungry. only use 1/4 recommended dose of food then work your way up to 1/2 recommended. dont spray any thing on buds. check ph of water and ph run off. lots of air flow. keep temp betweeen 75 and 80

Get better seeds the brown ones preferably over the little white useless ones you get all the time plus your grow looks Sativa dominant they grow airy buds

How big of an area are you trying to light with the 1000hps? From the pics, it’s way too big for sure. You need to contain the space you want to grow in to under the lights 5’ x 5’ And reflect that light back at the plants by hanging Mylar curtain or better yet get a tent or build in a room Or get more lights. Temps are low as well.

Thanks for all the comments.

Today there was a massive defoliation. After, the plants were randomly broken up into two groups and each group is now under a 1,000HPS. The canopy from the center point of the light is about 24" to each side. I'm now comfortably in the 5'-0"x5'-0" (imaginary) cube.
