I believe you called DIY a censor
on another thread. That’s what this sounds like to me.
I didn’t have a problem with his post as I’m comfortable with being exposed to different opinions. If 4 out of 5 dentists choose Crest is the 5th dentist a quack?
I didn’t pay much attention to the video so I didn’t get as worked up about it as some. If it’s really an offensive post we have the option to ignore it and “bury the bone”.
I’m comfortable enough with my own reasoning abilities that I can view information and decide for myself what is safe.
We are being flooded with dumb and unprofessional reporting on a subject that is very difficult in the best of times. There is a science and technology forum that is appropriate for the "gee whiz, lookat that", kind of stuff. I avoid that kind of crap because it's not dependable information and yet, here it is.
When I want to learn more about a technical subject, I read AAAS, Smithsonian and other sites that supports professional technical journalism. The CDC site has a lot of good stuff in it on coronavirus. You won't see much about optimism about HCQ or the new vaccine now in stage 2 testing coming from the real scientists. Our resident amatuer virologist, on the other hand posts crap that seems almost giddy in excitement over what's happening.
But yeah, this is a ridiculous argument. He's a fucking unfiltered copy and paste kind of guy. 90% of what he's posting on the subject is nonsense and he doesn't care. Nothing will stop him. I'm not going to, that's for sure.
I still am amused at his post of an article expressing concern that there will not be enough of the vaccine. Right now, this is the last thing for anybody to worry about. So much else is left to be done and the odds of a vaccine being ready any time soon is low. So, it's a distraction from the real issues. This kind of propaganda is an indirect danger or threat because people will die if there isn't enough investment in testing, contact tracing and isolating exposed people and that article therefore is a distraction away from what's important.
What's going on in that regard in Canada, I wonder? In the US, we have 50 different states doing 50 different things. In other words, in the US, we're screwed. Pardon me if I get cranky when I see some bullshit article on this bullshit subject and I call it for what it is.
A disastrous second wave is practically inevitable in the US and instead of trying to head it off or prepare for it, Trump is all hot and bothered about his low chance of success "Warp Speed" (propaganda) vaccine program that won't deliver a vaccine when he promised.
To talk about today's issues that matter. That's what the politics forum is for.
