Third times the charm...

What's up yall, this is my third time attempting to grow. I'm getting a lot of mixed answers on what levels to leave these lights at.. I think I'm gonna have to just call HLG and ask.. but right now they are 36 inches away and dimmed down completely to 135w.. should I go by ppfd instead? I can get them all to under 100 ppfd but I'm scared they'll start to all stretch, only 4 or 5 came out so far20200415_162955.jpg

Put your hand under the light. Don't call anyone, you be the judge. Best to put a thermometer at different levels below your light. You cannot destroy your plant with too much light but heat yes you can! Check with thermometer and the sweet spot for small plants is 26c or less and bigger is 28 Celsius or less

Thanks, but I heard that QB lights can easily burn a plant, they are unlike the HPS and other LEDs supposedly, it is actually pretty cool in there and I can put my hand very close to the light

If it were me, I'd simply call the manufacturer and ask them what they recommend. Then use that as your baseline and make the necessary adjustments. Good luck

A cannabis plant will show tell-tale signs of too much light. Not only that, plants with too much light will slurp up more nutrients than normal, so another side effect of too much light is significant burn from over-feeding. Because the plants are overworking, they'll also show signs of nutrient deficiency. Adding more nutrients won't fix things though, as the problem is too much light.

Here's an interesting article I just found on the topic: https://www.growweedeasy.com/too-much-light

No, you are showing noobness again! There is no such thing as too much light, only the heat that comes thereof

I make my leaves very bright but i have a relative who uses spotlights. Tge leaves go white white. He has a serious heat management system with that

Just, wow.
What you are referring to is the heat or radiation levels of the light. I suggest you take a look at some outdoor king kongs and see how tall they get. What you call tall and lanky is very normal. The curvy leaves are due to past growing and bending towards the sidelights, yes not only do branches bend so does the leaves

They're using LEDs. Heat on the back of the hand isn't the way to measure distance to the lights like it is with other lighting technologies like HID.

You sir should not be giving advice when you are clearly misinformed. You can totally fuck a plant up from to much light. I used to routinely bleach my plants when I was fresh with high power leds....
You have been keen on following me around and pointing out what you sir lack understanding because everyone you see on here does not use or show pics of sidelight grows

We are not talking about outdoor plants, or your lanky grow in this thread at all. You stated there's no such thing as too much light, so I corrected you and provided you with a basic article on the matter.

You were bleaching your plants from the heat dude or some totally misc reason, not the light intensity. Youd have to go quite a bit more than the sun in intensity and again, its mostly the heat generated from it and is manageable
