Bomb shelter grow room

Well i have a 12 ft by 15 ft room that was used for a bomb shelter. a friend and i have already painted the entire room white. there is a shelf that spreads along the wall, halfway through the room. there are 3 main vents and 1 small pipe vent. All i have to do is drill into the cement so i can put some fat dead bolts with an indescructable latch and lock. The shelter is located ruffly 330 ft away from my house. It is on a vacant 4 acre property. I don't have any kids or snoopy neigbors living by me. No one really ever goes over there; it looks creepy from the outside and extremely hard to see from the ground or the air. There are huge ukeliptis tree everywhere. I basically want to grow a bunch of dank in there. i would have to run 300+ extension cable from my house to power the lights/fan/ ect. i dont want to use anything other than CFL's to keep the power bill on the down low. ill try to get some pictures to show you guys but it's getting dark and i just want to know what you think. i want to shoot for at least 5 plants. i'm still deciding what method of grow i want to use. my only concern would be the extension cable being a dead givaway to where i live.

Yea i was skeptical about it at first, though ive lived here my entire life. i will be honest, there is a property about 200 ft on the opposite side of mine and the shelter. there is a small living trailer along the fence but all they see is ferns and manzanita. the main house is way out of sight about 600 ft back. There were only two kids that lived in the neihborhood that would take their friends over there and they would throw up some lame tags. they have all moved out and moved on so i think it's chillin. i had to shovel so much nasty crap out of that bunker that if anyone would have remembered it; they wouldn't want to go back. ill set the extension cable like 30 ft back way underground and into the shelter somewhere. the property was owned by a guy that tried to build a house but then got to old. he told my family and i to keep and eye on the property and he then moved away. nothing has happened there since and i think he's dead. i was also thinking about fingerprints... when i get it up and running ill wipe the place down and where some gloves to work in there i guess. thanks for the information on lighting, both of u.

i would like to grow a solid 5 plants. can someone recomend how many lights for each plant and what kind of light it is?

well for the cord I would work at night you and your buddy dig a foot deep trench to the shelter and barry the cord then cover every thing up. finger prints are gonna matter cause if the cords comming from your house thats where there gonna go

Is there any way to use a wireless extension cable or some kind of wireless power?? lol just wondering.

Yea i hope it works out to, all the loopholes have to be configured in. Fingerprints and the extension cord are definitely a couple.

If this doesn't work ill still be able to grow in my trailer away from the house, just not nearly as much as i had planned for that bunker haha.

well, thats a pretty big space, and you're going to be using CFLs? i unno man... its been proven hps / mh make a big difference. ummm , are you diving the room up at all? like different places for veg and flower?

about the cord... I would just run it, i mean. only way you're getting caught is if someone says something, because you said it was pretty secluded... but just make sure its buried, wont take nothing at all.. just a few minutes and a shovel. If you got a lil money.. try and run the cord through some PVC piping or something to prevent it from any kind of damage the weather might throw at it.

just another idea you say that its outa sight. and at least 300 foot from any house. go on e bay and get a gas powered generator. build a over sized box and insulate the hell outa it and tube the exhaust out the vents. the box and insulation will take care of the noise and the vent for the exhaust. then u dont have to worry about the power bill and u could use any type of lights that you want, vent fans, hydro system, etc.

with no cords no noise no light leaks, your gold man, id fill the area as much as possible and run it like a gorilla garden visit at night cover your tracks.

id kill for that type of spot man use the hell outa it.

Not to be the bubble burster, party pooper guy....but.....
Just remember that electricity is sorta like fluid flow, having a 300+ foot long cord is gonna cause alot of resistance, ur gonna have to have a big enough gauge of wire, among other things to compensate for the long long way to where ur power is gonna be , especially if ur gonna have a bunch of lights/fans/etc running of it. I dunno , Im not a genius with this electrical stuff, but I do know that its not just as simple as running 300 feet of extension cords and everything working perfectly(especially with a bunch of stuff drawing power from it). I could be wrong , but im pretty sure u may have problems if u dnt research this. 300 feet is a long ways away from the power source.

you should run a line out of your breaker box to the shelter. and you really should use some type of conduit to protect the wire. i use CFLs to veg with, but for flower HPS is the way to go. i would look into a digital ballast. Thats a big space, and with a HPS you have room to expand. Cause with 5 plants in there, you will see space for more.;-) :bigjoint:

First off... "Bomb Shelter"? Um, BAD-ASS!

As for the fingerprints, get boxes and boxes of rubber or latex gloves from a medical supply place. They’re like ten bucks for a box of a hundred.

Would there be a way for you to make it look like someone is stealing the electricity from your house? I'm not saying to steal the electricity, because that will get you caught. And don’t make it obvious at all. But, as a diversionary tactic should someone come snooping around… it would look a hell of a lot better on your part if that cord was only hooked up to the outside of your house… far, far away from the meter. You wouldn’t want some meter-reading Eagle Scout to do you a favor and report utility theft on your behalf. If that plan is not completely convenient, don’t manufacture it or it will look out of place. I just think it would be nice to fall back on “I had no idea, that’s on the outside of the house and it’s hidden so well”. A good lawyer could take that and make the argument that your place was the closest source of power and thus it becomes reasonable doubt.

As for the distance from your power source to the shelter that socom3riot mentioned, hit the local Home Depot or Lowes and tell them you are looking to convert an old shed in to a workshop. Their advice should be right on the money. The only things that worries me about an electrician is, how would you explain wanting to run electricity to an old bomb shelter that’s not on your property and if your county is like mine… the first thing they will want to do is file a work permit with the county. Where I’m from, that means inspection after inspection and signs posted in the front yard saying that a permit has been applied for. But, that might not be a requirement in your area like it is where I live.

Try logging in to your county’s website and see if the have what’s called a G.I.S. mapping system. It shows each plot of land, the physical boundaries, owners name & contact address, the land’s value, mortgage holder information and what the taxes are. It might even show if the taxes have or haven’t been paid. That could give you a clue as to whether or not something’s about to be done with the land. Hell, if the owner’s dead or has abandoned the property, you might be able to pick it up for a few years’ worth of back taxes.

Are there any fast growing shrubs or small trees that are indigenous to your area that you could plant randomly between the shelter and any one that might see anything going on? The snow coverage issue that tusseltussel brought up is a valid one… if that is going to be a problem, can you plant some shrubs on top of the shelter or cover it with loose debris?

Buy, rent or borrow a camera… I’m dying to see this! I have always wanted to live in a house that had a bomb shelter! LoL

On the issue of lights… I’m digging my 400w HPS and I had six going under it with no problem at all. But, the more sophisticated you get, the harder it will be to convince the cops you had no idea or weren’t involved, should it come to that.

For whatever it’s worth… Those are my thoughts and if they sound strange to anyone, as always, I invite corrections and questions.

Hey! I was an Eagle Scout! Thats where i started smoking. And every wednesday from age 13 to when i graduated. Thats where i became a man. Shit, if i found this shit going on i would come my pants and wanna get in on it

But the amount of CFL power needed for 5 plants is going to be alot more and less efficient than the MH/HPS power needed. I'm a CFL guy, but they're only practical in micro and cab grows. I used 230w [10 23w's] of CFL in my last grow, and a buddy of mine used 140w [2 70w's] of HPS and one less plant than i [and less space], and he yeilded about 4 more ounces than I.

And instead of running extension cords that can get water in the connections and short or worse, get some 10/2 or 12/2 underground romex wire. Its the same thing, just its made to go underground.

And i agree with whomever said it, but go to Home Depot and ask one of the sales reps what the best way to get electricity to an old shed that you want to convert to a workshop. They'll give you better advice than any of us stoners will.

I also agree with whomever said to make it look like someone is stealing electricity from you. Hook it up to the most hidden outdoor outlet you have. Also, run it directly into the outlet to the ground. Put old garbage or a shrub or something in front of the outlet to block it from view, so if someone does find it, you can pretend you never knew this was happening. But make sure it blends it!

:peace:
