Rank-and-File Workers Get Bigger Raises
Short supply of labor, minimum-wage rises and increased poaching have helped lift wages for lower-income workers
By Eric Morath and Jeffrey Sparshott
Dec. 27, 2019

Wages for rank-and-file workers are rising at the quickest pace in more than a decade, even faster than for bosses, a sign that the labor market has tightened sufficiently to convey bigger increases to lower-paid employees.

Gains for those workers have accelerated much of this year, a time when the unemployment rate fell to century lows. A short supply of workers, poaching, and minimum wage increases has elevated the middle class faster than at any other time.

We are playing catch up.
Maybe next term we'll get some infrastructure spending like those shit hole countries have been getting.

In South Africa for instance, in the 2015/16 budget, it was announced that the government would spend US$8.1bn on infrastructures over the next three years,
The US spends that in 15 days, 64 days when normalized. Even if we normalized the population of South Africa to equal that of the US, it's still 23.4% of what we spend. Trump has a long way to go before we're anything close to a shit hole nation. That's what so great about America, even with Trump we're over 4 times greater.

But South Africa is very hard to accurately judge their standard of living. While some may live like this:

Most live like this:

Why are you so determined for us to become that?

You be slow.
All you are is full of hate. The Revolution is coming. When that day comes we will realize subjugating others based on their physical appearance and beliefs is wrong, and we will then accept all our brothers and sisters. Your fight is with the wrong people, and one day you'll realize that.

Economics lesson:

Wage increase, where does that money come from? The owners of the companies increase the price of their goods to pay for it. This leads to inflation, which means the wage increase that the workers just gained gets wiped out by having to use those gains to pay the higher prices in the market place.

Short term vs long term.

Here's some more scientific stuff still on the books.

In February, 1992, the California Department of Justice/Bureau of Investigation recognized a discernible threat developing in the area of Russian organized crime. Preliminary intelligence indicators pointed to the fact that Russian organized crime and criminal gangs were becoming more sophisticated in their criminal enterprises, and establishing footholds in certain California communities.

I love you enough to ask you to get some help.

Inflation gives the working man wage increases. The wealthy never give wages from their pockets. So we pay more for everything. In the sixties things were different. But knock yourself out. I'm retired...

Just for your info ... truly awful news about a friend who has rent to pay ...

a new trick in 'binders full of workers' and how to game the system..my friend who was poached from another company for a lucrative $3/hr raise, was laid off after 90-days..'we have enough permanent people'..his lower wage permanent job is gone and he no longer has the option of paying 50% of his income for health insurance.

when left to its own devices, Means of Production is exactly why we have/need employment laws..
