Carbon Filter quality improving??

I’ve noticed a huge difference between the ipower filter weight (12 pounds) and the phat filter 500 cfm (25 pounds). Not sure, but it’s a substantially heavier filter. I look forward to seeing how many years I can get out of it.

My Active Air has one perforated stainless tube inside another with steel endcaps as with most quality filters. eBay filter, my first, was made of hardware cloth and much lighter.

Perhaps the Phat filter uses more carbon.

I ran phat filters for well over 10 years and they are the best I ever had. Now I'm in a legal State and it's just about being neighborly and use the cheaper filters which do an ok job. I can smell weed within 10 feet of the exhaust but not a lot. If I needed to be 100% safe I would get a phat.

My experience with phat wasn't good. Phresh has been great.

I got a phresh filter from amazon because of recommendations here. I’m scared to use it because it seems like just an accordion shaped filter paper in there. It weighs almost nothing. (6”x 12”) The can filter I have is 10 times heavier. Is this how all phresh filters are made?

Keep us posted. Date the filter when you put it in service so you can see how long it lasts. Hopefully it goes 7+ years like mine.

What cfm fan/filter size do you have and do you vent to outside? I've tried every brand and still end up with that green smell after 6mos or so

As a cheap ass I've never tried a expensive brand name carbon filter to compare. But the cheapest straight from China shit I can find have worked awesome. I see no reason to pay more.

What the heck is everyone growing? I run the big can filter on a 12” fan to exhaust and the medium one with 8” wide open and still get hassled all the time for smelling like herb at work.

Maybe it just because I have been at this since long before legalization but Oder control is right at the top of my list when I am setting up a new spot. Higher then lights even.

I have also read from people that filters which were dropped can screw them up and make them less effective regardless of the brand.

I am not sure about that. I do know the cubic feet per minute changes between scrub or exhaust by about half.

I base everything on how much I want the air in the space to be scrubbed all filters and fans have a cubic foot per minute rating. I like to scrub the air twice a minute

Yes. You need the air passing through the filter slowly for the carbon to do it's work. More time the smelly air has in contact with the carbon the more effective it'll be.

You sure its not just the canister? They are usually heavy and you can actually see the charcoal residue on inside and outside.

Did you ever get a phresh filter because thats expensive but very effective.

I haven’t used a phresh filter actually. I use the can filter and the mountain air. Both are pretty good brands

Anyone use the can 66 with a 6in? Used to get the 33 but still got the green smell after a while so think the 66 would be better.

You got an intake filter I think. They work, but aren't for exhausting tent. They can, but won't last long. They're more for purifying incoming inlet air.

I am currently running one of these for the past few months and it seems good so far - came with 2 pre filters too!
