The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Looking for advice from those who have watched and ordered from the alibaba marketplace for longer than me.
Alibaba is currently running as promo they call #superseptember that is about to run out.

Does anyone know if those deals are especially good, or will they just roll out a new promo offer as soon as this one is over?
Going into the holiday season in the US, it might make sense to wait, or on the other hand this might be the best time to buy.

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone run both/ either of the kingbrite and meiju under a par meter to compare?

Wondering which is the best option for manufacturer. Or is it more like coke vs Pepsi?

still scratching my head what happened to my pannels.

My problem is, when driven very low, i have some defective leds.
lowpoer.JPG

From roughly 50 percent power on all leds are working, so it is hard to see during normal use.

the boards had been in use for roughly 3 months, where brand new before..
Think the mechanical stress cause this while i am a bit afraid as these boards are mounted on a very stiff frame allready.
Not much to improve other then to mounting them soft with a thermal pad or such.

My question, someone had this too? dim complete down, otherwise you cant see it.

Got the Bava’s up and running in the auto tent finally. Had to deal with some Thrips first.

The 240’s pull 255-257 watts from the wall. 280 when the uv is turned on. I was surprised by this as the Meijiu Majo’s we’re dialed in exactly on the wattage.

Dimmers function well.

I like these. Probably add another for this tent and dim slightly and bring em closer.

I can’t speak for kingbrite.

As for Meijiu the Majo’s are perfect as I’m going to use them in a scrog setup next run.

The Bava’s are really nice, 90cri, nice spectrum and well built. Perfect for a vege/autoflower setup.

Depends what your application, budget and grow style is.

I’m satisfied with both as I researched pretty heavy what I needed to begin with.

Well, promo is over and all prices seem the same.
Glad I didn't jump yet

Found another thread where HLG rep was claiming that the Chinese were knocking off their quantum board design. I guess that makes sense because on the alibaba pages, they even have the same wiring images as on the HLG pages. It's pretty messed up.

I've decided I'm just going to use Digikey to get five Gen7 Vero29 COBs, 2.1A dimmable driver and a RapidLED 41" rail with heat sinks. Priced it out to $470 for 395W in a 2x4 which is pretty good. Right around 50W/sqft. Wished RapidLED still sold the Veros.

This is from my 120w kingbrite (MW HLG-120h-48b):

Power is only 115w. The driver outputs 120w. I would assume another 5% efficiency loss so it should be ~126w. The power meter was accurate with a lighbulb I tested. Everything is turned up on the driver.

Is the 115w normal?

Yup, your led most likely don't run at exactly 48V, more like ~45V. So ~45Vx2.5A=112W+losses. Nature of the beast, nothing you can do about it.
I bought the quantum board 288's 240 kit with a hlg-240-48b it is supposed to have the lm301b diodes in highest flux bin and lowest voltage bin and I asked them about the volts they said they were 48 volt boards but I can only get 45.4volts 230 watts if I remember correctly turned all the way up with the hlg-240h-48b with no dimmer hooked up. Well I had a hlg-185-48a I wanted to hook it up to so I first tried just one board hooked up and that sucker went all the way up to 47-48 volts and 220 -230 watts by itself I didn't think those boards could put out that much!! I hooked them both up and the voltage went back down to 45 and only 200 watts this ain't exact numbers it was a while ago that is what's got me stumped why if one board goes up that high why can't I get both to do the same.. If anybody knows why in heck it would do that please let me know what the prob could be thanks alot!!!!
