All those lights grow. You can grow dank with curly flouros. If you know how to grow. But why. Other than for enthusiastic grows. Save yourself from buying lights twice. You'll buy the vipar itll grow decent. And then you'll see everyones midpower white grows smash your grow. And then you'll want strips, cobs, or QBs. So save yourself buying two lights. Just buy strips cobs or QBs. And be done with it. My preference is QBs or strips over cobs. But they are still good. Cobs cost more. Usually. Strip you get nice light spread. And the same with QBs. @Stephenj37826 can set you up with a qb setup that will out grow any vipar they make. And have a warranty to boot. Vipars are good for setting your closet.

COB's don't cost more. Plus they can be spaced out better than boards. Led strips are the best option, but I guess QB's kits are easier to put together if you really have no DIY skills (albeit more expensive).

Cobs do cost more. By the time you buy heatsinks and what not they do. Strips can be free air if wanted. Nothing else to add. Inside a tent cobs are dumb. Theres hotspots and everything else. They get very hot. You get better overall light spread. And more uniformity over the canopy with strips in a tent than you cobs.

I have mounted COBs to aluminium strips. Works perfectly fine. The fact that people overkill on COB cooling doesn't mean that's how it has to be.
Cobkits has shown four 1212 Citizen COBs mounted on a QB heat sink outperforming the QB on the same heat sink. With the COBs being cheaper than QB's and mounted on the same hardware. So COBs are cheaper and better.
That makes no sense. If you hang a few 100W QB's you have much more hot spots then you get with say 50W COBs. If you want more distribution, run the COBs even lower. COBs are much cheaper and can be spread over the grow much better. So COBs give, better light distribution options, less hot spots, closer hanging heights and therefore lower wall losses compared to QB's. Only led strips beat COBs in that regard.

However, my point is that COBs are better than QB's. So: led strips > COBs > QB's

Hydrocrunch sells a 315 CMH unit, complete with the Phillips bulb, on eBay for $180(ish) USD last I looked....
For any startup grow, not interested in in DIY of any sort, this option has to be a top contender.

Not sure if Thisnis decent but it's okay.
These shots are sorted from most recent (last week) to about 5 weeks ago (before switch to Flower). 5 predominently indica trees in 2x4x5 tent. Running 2x300w Vipars now. I substituted a 450w in there but it started to burn because I let them veg too high, i couldn't even train them down enough by that point, so I went back to the 2x 300w. The 450w is in the last photo from 5 weeks ago.
Let me know what you think. I have nothing to compare to, it's my first grow.

Nice job! Looking good. What’s the space situation, I had to get rid of 3/6 plants due to space, I grew in a 2x4x6. Height was good.

Mine is on the small side. 2x4x5 feet. Height is an issue outside my tent so couldn't put for 6 feet but wish I could. At one point I separated the plants, 3 in one tent and two in another with my 450w, but in the end I defoliated them all and put them back together in one.

Everybody always knocking on people for buying the Chinese LED’s. Apparently I’m running around 700-800 watts of generic lights. 1 AGLEX 2000W (around 400 actual draw), and 4 spider farmer QB’s (just put 4th in last night so the growth so far is from 3). I only used the AGLEX for veg. This is a slightly smaller than 5x5 tent, but bigger than 4.5x4.5

Oh Man, hhhm. I would suggest super crop but I’m not experienced with that, not sure how they will take it in Flower. It was devastating throwing healthy plants out, i also had started too late with lst first time around and it was just a lot of work, and trimming.
