Left job as a “master grower” Oklahoma

[I don’t claim to be a master of anything especially with only 7 years experience ]but I just feel like I need some opinion. From people that have been in the industry or currently in the industry. I recently left my job as their "master grower" at a small farm here in Ok. I came in on they're system which was very minimal and they were growing autos.

They had no experience growing , and only one flower room, got them on a very good organic system and made them some very good clean medicine, and got them 3 flower rooms by the time I left. and I was doing the whole grow ,except the 5 minutes every few days. I would get for help until they're phone rang

But my employers were never satisfied with the amount of production for they're growing environment , and didn't care about much constraints of the buildings , I kept suggesting that they update the A/c and increase airflow to the exhaust and many more suggestions to help but would not take my advice , I was doing all this for 8$ an hour ,I was cool with this until I realized my pay didn't increase after a few harvest and no additional help hired to at least help me to help them , and also brought them my own personal genetics I was working on which now I realized I shouldn't have done, left three cuts of my strains there on my departure.

Also just didn't feel the love of growing anymore from which i just felt like making product just for bussines and not for the patients ,and didnt like cutting corners. I been been growing for 7y and sacraficed time of my life to this plant and even if it is a dream job I'm not selling out like this , heads up if your looking for a a job in this new Oklahoma industry. That being said was I in the wrong for leaving? I did leave a plan of action and assessment though. On the basics on my system upon leaving.

No you weren’t wrong for leaving . Now go get a group of friends together and go back and burn that place down to the ground and teach those Oakies a lesson in manners and respect. On the positive side , maybe just learn from your mistakes and open your own business and put them out of business. Good luck.

You ran the whole show for 8 an hr , fuck no you wasnt wrong for leaving....you were wrong for leaving YOUR genetics there. Now they have 3 flower rooms of good shit , all from you. Now its time to go solo for awhile ? Start small. Do what you love elsewhere. bongsmilie
Yea i feel stupid for it now , all just to work in the industry, smh. I do have back ups of all my personal cuts they have though , and have a copy of my male that I looked through a lot of beans to find. I’m glad never took that there lol , yea I’m probably just going to consult patients grows , and keep making beans and wait until I get enough saved to start my own business/farm lol

Your post doesn't really have a lot of info other than $8 an hour. I wouldn't do anything for $8 an hour. That has to be below minimum wage where you are. On the other hand 7 years doesn't really make a master grower, still $8 is BS. I would expect a minimum of $20. A master grower should be getting them at least 1 gram per watt, if you were doing that and not getting paid you were getting ripped off.

Well there were a lot of other things , I was just giving a description of the job tittle , they gave me. I’m just a home grower that can grow some really good medicine in my opinion. And put them skills and experience to a commercial aspect , never would claim to be a “master grower” as I’m always learning and continuing my hands on experience. But it was the job tittle.

Yea I was getting them pretty close to 1g a watt I’m sure of , The main reason was the pay, every body was getting payed the same and. I was In The grow running it 98% while other employees was in the dispensary chilling watching YouTube and making prepacks , while I’m working and trying to keep production going. The second main problem was they would not take my advice on not cutting corners and buy the right stuff or fix much needed equipment. But wanted the maximum number of plants no matter if they had sufficient space or lighting. Which will cause problems , and trying to treat the grow as a 9-5 which we sometimes know that extends we’ll beyond that at times. Especially if your Han Solo with the grow. I’m going to take this experience and learn from it , yea 20$ hr would of been nice ,

Very similar story here in Alaska to a good friend. He definitely is a master grower. Growers are growers and money people are money people. The 2 don’t exist in the same person.

M literally supplied this business with every strain he had. We’re talking a load! At least 14 strains by cuttings and no telling how many seeds from a huge stash. 3 buildings and engineering was done on air and electricity. But by the time they got to the third building the money people were being money people. Lots going out and zero coming in! Get producing. The first building was right and plants were growing. Second building came on line and vegging plants were moved in. But the third? It needed more insulation and air handling equipment. It hits -40 here for a long time and down to -60. M told them it wasn’t a good idea to try and use it. Too cold and bad air handling. They insisted. They brought in heating oil heaters. Humidity. When this one strain hermied they fired M and G and another guy. The night crew. It was their fault.

M was in immediate demand and was on in 2 other operations in no time. The next crew had no better luck and they had to destroy almost 400 plants. They apologized to M and thanked him for not badmouthing them.

Money people suck it.

They'll probably manage to kill off your cuts anyway. Karma is a bitch like that. Just get your shit together and grow! The rest will take care of itself....and NEVER work for $8.00 an hr...that's crazy...oh yea,,oklahoma.

A very small percentage of money people do not suck. Oil heaters? LOL. What idiots. Did the morons even have dehumidifiers? Those guys deserved to be bad mouthed. I am glad it worked out for M.

Huge dehumidifiers. No natural gas in the state except Anchorage. Electricity is sky high. If I was M I would have dissed them but it’s a small circle in all honesty.
Yeah propane burners for CO2 is not gonna keep those places warm.

I did some stuff in Colo about 7500 ft elevation. It was not that great insulated metal building running 6 or more 1000 watt HPS and 1 CO2 propane burner. The outside at night got down as low as -20 F at times. No problems. -40 and -60 is like another planet.

What is the street price for lb of weed in AK black/gray market and dispensary. The electricity prices kill.

Going indoor is almost not worth it unless they stealing electricity. Money poeple will be money poeple. The guy i worked for was able to sell my light dept. Grow as indoor. He hired professional trimmers to trim the buds small and to look indoor. In the end expenses and full cost of green house ate more then half of what was sold. Light dept can look better then some indoor that wasnt properly cared for. In cali high grade indoor selling at 1500 a pound.
