To pray or not to pray?

It’s kind of a BROSCIENCE kind of argument ....

IMO if the plant is RECEPTIVE ( praying or lateral ) then she or he ( lol ) is happy and engine purring. When the leaves lose color ( most top areas ) yellow , fade , whiten .... then it is light stress / bleach.

As Mother Nature intended .... plants will look happy or they will not.

Here is a Alpine cookie I have sprouted under a QB at about 18” .
Looks pretty damn happy.

Grow outdoors and let me know if you see a plant pray. Not being a dick (context lost over the interweb), but try it and then you'll know. We are trying to recreate natural conditions, just to an optimal range.
 
We don’t get many days here in the 90s, but my outdoor plants will definitely perk up when happy. If your leaves aren’t yellowing and your plant looks healthy I never get worried. Otherwise you are correct it can have to do with light stress/heat. Especially if they continue through the dark period.

We don't get a whole lot of them here either, which is why it was notable to me.

I don't really get worried with praying, it's just a sign of stress. Like any other stress, if prolonged, it's not healthy. Indoors, it's usually prolonged and causes issues.

I don't see a point in raising it, that plant looks very happy and healthy. Until the last few months, I had never seen someone say that "praying" leaves was a negative thing. I was taught that it was the sign of a happy plant when they go from sleeping to praying over the course of the day.

I read through most of that link, and didn't see any mention of "praying" leaves or it being a sign of to much light?

I'm not trying to say you guys are wrong, but I am surprised to hear this new train of thought.

It's not that it's bad or wrong, just stress. You know how we use stress, and you know how stress can be good or bad. Too much of a good thing...
