SpaceX's Crew Dragon suffers third straight setback

We're going to have to wait a bit longer to finally see astronauts take a ride aboard new spacecraft from SpaceX and Boeing.

NASA announced Wednesday that the first uncrewed test launches of SpaceX's Crew Dragon spaceship and Boeing's Starliner have been pushed back yet again. This is the third month in a row that NASA has announced a further delay for the first major test flight of Crew Dragon.

The uncrewed demonstration launch of Crew Dragon is now set for March 2 and Starliner will perform a similar launch no earlier than April. Both craft will then have to perform abort tests and a test mission with crew aboard. If all goes well, the first time we could actually see humans in a Crew Dragon might be July, followed by a crewed test flight for Starliner in August.

Wow, that roadster has got to be degraded like hell by now.

It's crazy that thing left the atmosphere with a LiNiCoAlO2 battery bank on board and it worked for hours, battery tech is pretty insane now days.

Elon Musk said he's shooting for between 22 and 24 launches of Falcon9 and Falcon Heavy for this year. That's like a launch every 2.5 weeks.

I was a kid when we were doing the moon shots. Lots and lots of setbacks. That is just the way this stuff works. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

SpaceX’s Starship engine breaks Russian rocketry record held for two decades

First and foremost, it’s far too early to actually crown Raptor as the new official record-holder for combustion chamber pressure. RD-180 has been reliably flying on ULA’s Atlas V rocket with chamber pressures as high ~257.5 bar (3735 psi) since the year 2000, while Raptor has been performing subscale integrated testing for roughly two years and full-scale integrated testing for less than seven days. As such, the fact that full-scale Raptor has achieved ~269 bar (3900 psi) is an almost unbelievably impressive achievement but probably shouldn’t be used to jump to any conclusions just yet.

Starman trackers warn Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster will CRASH into Earth

The unusual SpaceX payload, which blasted off on February 6, 2018, is now barreling through space beyond the orbit of Mars. The Tesla Roadster and its pilot were chosen as a dummy payload for the maiden launch of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. Elon Musk, the mastermind behind the extravagant rocket launch, argued at the time a deadweight payload of metal blocks would have been simply too boring. Now, one year on from the launch, a study of Starman’s trajectory around the Sun put the cherry-red sports car on a potential collision path with Earth

Elon Musk expects SpaceX ticket to Mars will cost $500,000
But the return ticket is free.

It's time to start chucking some cash into your Mars vacation fund. SpaceX's interplanetary Starship hasn't even left Earth yet, but Elon Musk is already speculating about the price of a ticket to Mars.

In a tweet on Sunday, Musk said he's confident that moving to Mars will one day cost less than $500,000 (£390,000, AU$710,00), though that price tag is "very dependent on volume."
