Massive size difference in plants

Hi guys!
This is my first post here so i hope i am posting this in the right place.

My grow tent is 40x40x120 cm and inside i have 4 plants (feminized seeds) in 1 gallon pots.
They are exactly 4 weeks old but one of my plants (royal gorilla strain 50%sativa) is only 8cm tall while the biggest one (sour diesel 30%sativa) is already 25 cm tall.

I use a 250w lamp in a cool tube.
I only have 50 cm room left to grow until the big one reaches to close to the lamp in its highest position.
Plants:
  • royal gorilla 8cm tall 50%sativa
  • Amnesia haze 18cm tall 70%sativa
  • Sour diesel 25 cm tall 70%sativa
  • Chocolate haze 18cm tall 95%sativa

I will attach pictures as well.

So here are my questions
1. How can I slow down the growth of the big one
2. When should i switch to 12/12 considering my limited grow space

Lots of options.
You could further top your tallest one by cutting a portion of the highest nodes essentially making it the same height as your shortest.

You could remove only the newest leaves from the new growth tips (highest points) this is a quasi-fim/topping technique that will slow down the growth rate. The lower stuff will start to grow to catch up.

You could screen the whole canopy at the height of the tallest one. As the tall one starts to grow more, you weave it like you would a basket in a screen, allow the shorter ones to catch up, once they hit the screen flower.

You can flower that anytime. Without knowing the stretching tendencies it's anyone's guess. You might end up in a situation where your shorter ones currently will outpace and stretch beyond the tall ones. This is learning curve time. Good on you to be thinking about these things before it gets out of hand.

If i do remove the newest leaves, do I have to wait before i switch to 12/12 because of the stress? Also, should I remove all at once or a little bit every day so I dont stress the plant?

Shouldn't need to wait although letting them recover a day or two wouldn't hurt either.
You can do either remove a leaf here or there, or all at once and revisit again in a few days.

On larger plants the removal of the top most leaves but not the whole node.
Peel the leaf's finger back exposing a nice spot on the stem to snip. Do this on the highest most leaf(s) protruding from the new growth. You might consider taking the leaf at the next lowest point on the alternate side so 2 leaves. It's all by feel so learn as you go.

I have had success with many plants in a foot². Knowing they will be much much smaller (micro) vs 1 plant in the same space. It can be done but will possibly trade off some yield/uniformity/ease of grow for variety.

It will come down to genetics. If you can grow 1 stick with a 14g kola then you can grow several. SOG it up. Or invest in the horizontal veg time and build/weave a SCRoG. In that small of space I would run SCRoG (if I knew which 1 plant I would run) or SOG of many plants if trying to find a keeper.

Thanks for the idea, I will try SCRoG after I harvest these babies

If you can make another box to keep the other strains in veg in, you can make them tick over till it is their turn, just lop a third off them regularly. They just need a little light and food.

Try this! this is how I used to grow, search 'sea of green' (sog) method, I started them on 12/12 anywhere from four to six in. Without topping and they finished about 18in or so, good luck

Try something like this perhaps?
And once its full of foliage just flower right away. You may be able to fit 4 like this

Should probably take cuttings anyways ? Could take them from the larger plant like mentioned before will slow growth and allow the others to catch up. Win , win. This way you can also hone in your skills with this one pheno/strain, and allows you to learn your environment.
