Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

I wonder if the lawmakers who wrote the law are aware that it's taking this long for approvals?
They know and it doesn't sound like they're happy. That's a big part of why there's provisional access and no more background checks, and why I don't buy that the lawmakers will be OK with more delays from IDPH.
And this is not the most damning article I've read.

I want to correct a misstatement I made in an earlier post. Thanks to Myk63 for pointing this out. The state does specify a maximum wait time, contrary to what I wrote earlier:

(410 ILCS 130/60)
(Section scheduled to be repealed on July 1, 2020)
Sec. 60. Issuance of registry identification cards.
(a) Except as provided in subsection (b), the Department of
Public Health shall:
(1) verify the information contained in an application
or renewal for a registry identification card submitted
under this Act, and approve or deny an application or
renewal, within 90 30 days of receiving a completed
application or renewal application and all supporting
documentation
specified in Section 55;
(2) issue registry identification cards to a
qualifying patient and his or her designated caregiver, if
any, within 15 business days of approving the application

or renewal;

So this gives the state at least 105 days (give or take, since the last 15 days are "business days") from the receipt of an application to the date they mail out the card. 15 business days is three weeks, and if there's a holiday or two in there, we're looking at very close to 4 months wait time.

Which means we need to slightly recalibrate our expectations.:cry:

I would say they don't get the 90 days until they get provisional access working. Not that it matters because they have no punishment for them almost never following the 30 days since the program started as it is. I think they've already taken up to 120 days before, with the 30+15 day limit.
Even with the 30 day limit they were saying don't bother calling before 60 days.

Where's the button for "like your post, but not the info in it"? :)

Haha yeah! There were 2 people, one on the 19th and 20th, that I wish would call haha
yes , I would like to hear some news ! the guy you talked to yesterday was full of it ! if there is any truth to what he said , its because they are working on temp registration letters , and he was just saying that cause you would get one before you get a card...that's speculation , but I think that's whats going on. all the other stuff people are talking about is mainly to do with OAPP , and the timeline for that is not the same

Right! I’ve talked to that guy before and he was normally fine, i May try again Friday and wait until I speak with one of the ladies, they were super nice. I don’t see any way, unless the temp cards are slowing them down, that I won’t be approved this week

yes , going by past rates , they should be starting October . I kinda thought they would finish September , and temp letters would start October , and November and working on regular apps in meantime ? you should be past time of being approved , and card sent to printer already....

I’ll give it a few more days, and Friday if I’m not approved, it’ll be time to do some digging. I’ll have to tell myself to hold off calling tomorrow! Ha
