My home the Big Island.

Being a Medical Marijuana Patient with a license has made my life more tolerable these days. I wake in the morning with one of my girl's strong Indica smell flowing thru the bedroom. It's a nice way to start one's day.

What even makes it even better is I awake every morning on the Big Island of Hawaii. Famous for "Kona Gold", or "Puna Butter", the Big Island has become the perfect place for growing, and more importantly family! I was raised on the west of Maui. In Lahaina area up to the Kahana area was my stomping grounds. My first experience with commercial pakalolo was there.

I have grown on three of the islands over the years. Just for security reasons the Big Island offers the best situation, mostly because of it's vastness . The two other islands I have grown on are way different. I can't live on Oahu any more. To me Honolulu might as well be Fresno California(armpit of America)! Maui, where I grew up just doesn't have the places to grow properly for me. Or at least it was that way when I lived there? Don't get me wrong, "Maui No ka oi". Just way to many transplant/rip offs there today compared to the 70's there. It's just I think I have found my little piece of Heaven right here in Puna. For the older investor grower that might read this. The Big Island is the last affordable coastline in America. Did you hear what I said? "The last affordable coastline in all of America"! I got my piece of Heaven a year and a half ago. A fee simple acre of land. Then built a three bedroom-2 bath house 1200 square feet. I did it all for under $269,000.00!!! I did it right before the Prime lending fiasco went large. Today, prices are even better. Puna, my district use to be considered the "wild, wild west". It was a grower's paradise, few residents lived there, and the ones that did live here minded their own business!!! Today Puna is much the same except it is now growing at a huge rate population wise. Many locals from Honolulu like myself moved here to be able to own your own home. Plenty of retired "Baby Boomers" from the westcoast too.

If there is one draw back it's the lack of infrastructure here to meet the population growth. But hey, who needs infrastructure when you got killer buds!?!?!

shit I forgot to explain pics:

1.) close up of one of my girls
2.) this one of my four legged girls, Lucy Lani a Pit Bull Red with Cow markings. She guards front of pad & pig hunts!
3.) took pic of my brother looking out window

I'm on the big island too, but haven't figured out how to get my ladies nearly that big!
brah, this is part of my short season! My short season plants range from two feet to six feet. Plus I like to harvest most of my plants twice! After main harvest, I'll leave several smaller buds on lower part of plant with plenty of leaf. Kick up the fert cycle once again and plant goes back into Veggie state:mrgreen:

Akamai, or what?bongsmilie

Anybody wanna guess what I'll get from these three house plants dried?

1.) how much dried herb do you think these 3 short season plants are gonna give me?

2.) two plants going for second harvest next full moon!

actually both plants have Mealy Bugs! As I enter the last two weeks, I'm really concerned about shocking these girls from trying to kill all the little pest! About one week ago my wife took some pics. Upon examining the Trichomes we noticed little black dots(spider mites). Had to deal with them too! But they are gone, it's the Mealy Bugs who don't want to vacate to premises!!!:wall:

Yesterday I took a cruise down to Keaa'u. There I went to the health Food Store and bought a small bottle of Pure 100% Neem Seed Oil. I will now mix up a concoction for these little pricks. Hopefully this will work, or I'll be smoking dried Mealy Bugs all winter!:finger:

what strain is that? im from oahu and i plan to retire in the big island too.
These strains are what I call my "What the fuck" strains. Another words these are all free. They seem to be a grab bag of both Sativa and Indica strains, and cross strains.

But I wish I had more seeds from the plant with my brother in the pick by window. That plant is an Indica & sativa cross. It's one of those strains that smell good even as a seedling! The buds are extremely knarly & strong, tight ,and huge! Plus it has that wonderful Afghani Skunk weed smell to it! I had to cut some buds the other day from her...again for fear of Mealy Bug problems. This plant is suffering attacks recently from something, or somebody. Entire branches are dying all at once? Fortunately it has only been branches with extremely small buds on them. This I'm not sure what's happening. One thing is almost sure, it's not from Mealy Bugs!!!

Great post! i always love to hear about grows that are different from the ordinary. those strains look alright but you should consider investing into some seeds from a seed bank. i think your results will be superior to the ones that you are currently getting...

also i was trying to help someone else on here who lives in hawaii. he said you basically get 12 hour of sunlight year around... how do you veg em so big... do they naturally do it?

Yeh I would say. They basically will veg and flower huge if you just give them what they want just like Fdd's monsters. Lots of sunlight and nutrients and they will get huge.

They will naturally veg and flower when they choose. Some earlier then others.

Puna can explain it better then me. He's been doing it longer. :)

Anyways, shit 2 plants got them mealy's damn! The neem oil should do it. Gotta get it all the way to the stem to eradicate those fuckers.

I think the random bagseed and What the fuck seeds can come out to be some chronic. Had a small 3 inch girl in July and not she's a 2 1/2 ft beauty with some good size buds. Smells like Juicy Fruit gum. I love it. Still got a few weeks left though.

The Hawaiian Islands are a semi tropical climate. This allows for all kinds of possibilities/ But normally Hawaii has two growing season to three growing seasons a year. Plus, if you're into fucking with 'mother nature' ,you can have four grow seasons in one year.
As a kid growing up on Maui we use to call the short season "90 day wonder weed", it always put Xmas money in our pockets at just the right moment!

more later....dog going nuts outside!?

Ah man I used to live in Oahu. Hawaii is definitely the greatest place to live in the world as far as living in America goes. Beautiful there.
