Besides the fact that Pua Mana already got called out for a bunch of BS on his thread on icmag from literally the first post and then revised his stories on his website after the real OG's set him straight and besides the fact that @mmjmon said his seeds came from Oregon and besides the fact that surfdout, @East Hawaii /dirtyboy808 and oldhaole (Hawaiian OG growers who would know a well known grow family from back in the day) has never heard of the Pua Mana Ohana. And besides the fact that there is no strain of Maui Wowie, or Kona Gold or several other old school varieties because weed was sold by name for the area it was grown in, not for the specific genetics.

Anyway, besides all that, I have a friend that grew out Pua Mana's Maui Wowie and Maui Mango Diesel. He's a breeder over here and runs a lot of plants all the time and knows his stuff really well. Anyway, he said they were good plants and were sativa dominant and he liked them, but not enough to keep around. He threw some pollen on them and called it a day. So there you go, if you want some good sativa plants tgat you'll probably enjoy, but probably won't put in your keeper category then get some Pua Mana seeds.

@SpliffAndMyLady could you ask Puna Bud if he's ever heard of the Pua Mana Ohana please? Certainly one of these OG growers would have at least heard of this Ohana from back in the day.

All the OG Hawaii growers I mentioned used have been growing here for decades, i.e. since the Maui Wowie says and several of them were pretty big time back in the day so at least one of them would've heard of this family if not actually met them.

You are obviously not "Hawaiian" either so...?

Also, it's funny you talk stink about mainland strains when Pua Mana uses them (supposedly) in his crosses.

I wish they didn't delete that IC thread. The best was the story about "uncle jimmy" from Nahiku and OH setting him straight because he actually lived and grew there at the time....I notice the website lists the source as "bradda joseph" now instead of Uncle Jimmy lol.
Its funny that puamana will argue with people when they set his story straight and then later he will change the descriptions on his website to contradict what he was arguing about, he did that with molokai frost too.
Most of his stories are just taken from posts on forums and its pretty odd that there has never been a single picture posted showing the original clones he works with.

@kona gold sorry for your loss. Sincerely. I don't know what I would do in your situation. I used to live in Mountain View and most of my friends from there live down by Pahoa and my wife has been keeping me updated from keeping in touch with our friends there via Facebook mostly. It's nuts. One of our friends house is surrounded by lava at the moment. ItsI been moving slow but they don't have a lot of hope for the best ATM.

In regards to your previous post, I've grown a lot of tropical varieties. I've mentioned my enjoyment of them several times, probably to the point of being kind of annoying for others to read again and I do not believe you or anyone can tell if a plant is "Hawaiian" in veg (besides BI Ducks Foot which isn't originally "Hawaiian" I don't believe, but basically a landrace by now). Could you tell if it was of dominantly tropical genetics? Definitely, but not Hawaiian. You'd have to finish them to find that out. All the old school "Hawaiian" genetics we're just tropical varieties from other parts of the world and either kept pure or crossed with other tropical varieties until Green Harvest started and then local growers started mixing in Afghan to make shooter flowering plants and shorter stature plants so they wouldn't be so easy to spot from the air.

What set Hawaiian grown weed apart from tropical places was our climate is virtually perfect and growers grew it better than other places because good Maui Wowie, for example, was literally more valuable than gold in the 60's and 70's so there was incentive to do it right.

Just my 0.02¢

I know OH personally. He usually comes over to my house at least a couple times a month. He is as legit as they come and he's been growing here for 50+ years. He's got a ton of great stories from back in the day and when he talks about growing here you should be taking notes. I'll take his word over anybody's when it comes to old school stuff.

Yup, Who do you trust more a guy with 5+ decades of experience growing cannabis in Hawaii and a half dozen online journals full of pictures vs. a 30-something year old closet breeder that moved here from the mainland and has zero pics of ANY of the classic strains he supposedly works with?

Thanks @rikdabrick .
Appreciate your nice words.
But I just have an eye for spotting Hawaiian genetics!
When I was growing some seeds bank strains I could tell if they were Hawaiian or some bogus imitations.
So far, Hawaiian sativafrom Federation seeds was legit, and Hawaiian Gold from snow high seeds.
When all you did when you was a kid, was love Hawaiian strains and that's what I bred. So many Hawaiian strains, I have a hard time recalling them all.
So you don't have to believe me, but that'smy gift.
And the kona gold and Maui Wowie are Hawaiian strains, sativa dominant.
Now your friend found some decent plants in his pack, so maybe if he searched could have found a serious keeper.
So that's all i'm saying. Just like the guys selling roadkill skunk, they are claiming it's in there, but might take several packs to find the one.

Hawaiians and locals bred, one of the things, was for speed!
They wanted it finished as soon as possible, while still getting a good yield. So those pure landraces were always selected for the fastest flowering phenos. After many selections and generations acclimating to Hawaii's shorter seasons, those long flowering strains were worked down to fast flowering strains. Some were hybridized with hash plants. Hawai'i has some chronic indica's as well. Lots of hash plants do well out here.
90 day wonder was the direction of a lot of breeders. Some even claim 60 day wonders. That's from seed sprout till harvest. And no auto flower schwag!

I was born and raised on Maui. I used to go to Josephs parties in Hana before he passed away. I doubt any of you did.
Pua Mana has the real history and the real old strains. I have read these forums and the one on IG where you bullies erase everything Pua Mana says to try to make yourselves look good.
Here is a wake up call you do not look good.
You look like a gang of idiots who know nothing about what they are talking about.
If you were from HI you would show respect.
If you had half a brain you would google Puamana and see all of the pics they have before coming on forums to make fools of yourselves.
There are pics of all the old strains and they have their own website with the history for all to read.
None of the info on the Puamana site is on any old threads. None of these old threads know Kona Gold it was around before the internet kids. Real hawaiian growers dont go online to brag and disrespect they grow and stay pono.
There are many of us who read these threads see this garbage and do not approve of the disrespect.
It is not fun to read through all this mindless schoolyard crap talk to find a few gems from people who wont ever come back on here because they are tired of cyber bullies and know nothings.

What would Eddy Spaghetti have to say about that site? I wanted to get some great Kona. But I just became a skeptic with no plant pictures. Just words and graphics of packaging. What about grow info and pics....hmmmm think I will wait before I shell out 10$ per seed.

The real Maui wowie sativa from Hana is one of if not the best strains on the planet but not for beginners.
Maui wowie takes skill and patience.
OK I will challenge you on that "Best Strain on the Planet" stuff. First of all what I feel is the best can be different than what you say is best - we all have our own opinion. Second Maui made a name for itself back in the 60 and 70s - it was more of a marketing phrase of some good mexican grown in Maui than a superior strain. the name just caught on. I am not sure if the Maui was that good or the acid was influencing us.

There are legal reason to separate seed and flower pics.
They actually sell seeds legally on the site so they cant have pics of flower just seeds.
If you look at the bottom of their website page it says to see flower pics go to social media.
Puamana has hundreds of fully developed flower pics on social media.
Kona Gold Maui Wowie Kauai Electric Duckfoot all of them.
They did it they got the band back together.
I have been following them since 2014 and am glad the strains survived the war on drugs. It was nuts.
Alot of us left or had kids and lives and came back to see everyone growing skunks and girls scouts like we were in a parallel dimension or something. Maui has changed so much. Its crazy.
You can actually sell seeds legally if you have no pictures of cannabis? I was not aware of that. nice.

HOLY MULTIPLE SOCK ACCOUNTS BATMAN, THIS THREAD IS BECOMING AN INTERWEB PHENOMENON!

You know what's even more amazing than Hawaiian grown weed? How many "old school Hawaii growers/smokers" happen to be surfing the internet AND also happen to stumble across this thread AND also happen to stumble across this thread whenever anyone calls out Pua Mana on his BS AND also happen to know the Pua Mana Ohana AND also happen to make an account and post in his defense right when it's all happening. That is amazing; virtually miraculous in fact.

Kind of makes one think bongsmilie

So is it Uncle Jimmy or Braddah Joseph? Nahiku or Hana? It's hard to keep up when the story keeps changing

You sure do know a lot about Pua Mana's website and interworkings to not be Pua Mana. It's amazing; virtually miraculous in fact

ya it a souvenir thing its awesome but with bud pics it changes things so they separated the sales site from social media pics to do it legit.
Josephs parties had the old trippers spinning they said George Harrison from the Beatles used to go to his parties and trip out before I was old enough to get down. He bought a hundred acres on maui and chilled out with locals after they had a land dispute over beach access.
George the beatle ended up just becoming friends with everyone rather than getting mad they were crossing right by his house to go beach after the courts told him the people have beach rights.
The real Maui wowie is not mexican its hawaiian.
Sure there were people trying to put Maui wowie name on everything back in the day to make a buck but you cant fake the funk.
Maui wowie is not skunk its a hawaiian sativa. sweet and sour sticky stuff and yes the best.
Again some good inside knowledge about Pua Mana's interworkings. Good thing we know that you're not just a Pua Mana sock account though ;)

So if old school Hawaiian strains weren't Mexican, Central American, South American, South East Asian varieties then they were endemic specied to the islands?
