Rapid rioters directly into soil?

So, I typically germ my seeds in paper towel and have had good germination success. Also, I typically will plant germinated seeds into their final pot/medium. I’ve had some issues w seeds fully sprouting. Environmentals are optimal in my growing spaces 70-75* and 75-85% humidity (for early veg stage).

I have a propagation dome and some rapid rooters (I’ve never used a dome or rapid rooters before) and was wondering if I can start the seedlings in the rapid rooters (in the propagation dome) and plant the RR directly into my medium (for the duration of the grow) once the roots develop a bit in the dome...??? This way, I’d at least be using/wasting less medium/electricity.

If so, should I germ the seeds before dropping into the RR, or just soak the seeds in water a bit; letting the germ process happen in the RR in the dome?

I have always cracked them in a shot-glass of water for 16 hours, then to paper towels and then to planting medium. This cycle I used rapid rooters as I went full hydro and I found I had to help them with the shell more often probably because there is not much to push against when coming up in a rooter hole.

Or the little peat discs that plump up when you water them.
Let them germ in the plug, get a good start on growing some roots, and transplant the whole thing. No need to tease the roots out.

Are u recommending I don’t use a dome, or saying you don’t use one? I’ve had issue with shells staying on going paper towel to medium.

I have heard they have a small charge but I havent nailed down anything official? like the rooter packages don't say it (I haven't checked their site in a while either). I think the instructions maybe say you can use a mild nutrient solution to soak? not necessary for germinating and first week or two anyway

They come in packs of 12, 24, 48 etc...
It's just peat, but it's all a seedling needs to pop and start rooting.
Then you put them right in the soil of your choice.
I like the peat. It comes with a biodegradable net around each disc and you can cover the seed to your liking.
A dome is good if your humidity is very low. Occasionally I'll cover them during the dark cycle (18/6) if needed.

it can be but we see so many seedlings damping off with mold on the stem when domed. They'd rather have a controlled enviro that circulates and exchanges fresh air 24/7

care: as the new RR are made of thicker nylon? webbing

and I've often cut with a blade before inserting seed

I use those burpee 36 cell 10 day auto watering trays. Rapid rooters the dome and a heating mat. If your using the rapid rooters tear an small piece off and just place it over the whole. Once they pop out I remove the dome.

My personal opinion is rapid rooters stay a little too wet for starting seeds, very good for clones seeds not so much

I’ve never had an issue using with them staying too wet or damping off. I’ve used them for a few years with no issue.

Couldn’t you just not wet them as much??? I’m sure they’re a bit wet out of the package... can they be squeezed out?
