i would like to eliminate hydroton. this is one way of doing it.

would i need to anchor the pots in dwc tub lid?

Why would you want to rid yourself of the hydroton. I use only 8”net pots
i use even less than that. i use 5" pots currently.

just trying to eliminate the cleanup of hydroton. plus it seems to attract dead leaves...

i just got some 2" net pots in from amazon. gonna use them in a party cup grow contest, but would love to go all the way through harvest in my DWC setup.

i suppose i could use a piece of trellis about 6" off the deck and tie each plant to it, providing enough stability for it to grow upward without falling over. might just give it a try...

Hell I rinse mine off and after every 2 or 3 grows add some 35% h2o2

Just into a trellis. They do pop out of the 5 gal lids sometimes from weight. 6" is better.

that's my plan, a treliis or two. i use tote boxes, 20 gallon and i anticipate the 2 inchers have the same problem. nothing that a little duct tape can't sole :bigjoint:

Superstoner used to use 2" in an NFT rail system. He doesnt come here anymore though.

People definitely do it. Just gotta support plants somehow. Ive had clones fall out of 2" netpots before. The collar and neoprene just tipped right out and I came into the room and the cloner was near empty from spitting water out and the pump was gurgling

thanks, and yikes, i hate coming back into a room of destruction... i've had similar issues.

i can support the plants easily enough and that seems better than busting out my propane burner to boil hydroton

These are 2 inch cups

My experience with them is ok as long as the plants weight is supported.

If not fhe net cup rim can split and fall through the hole

Aero/dwc setup after the plants got big they fell through:shock:
Dont mind the roots they are nute stained :)

I go for 5 inch cups now but i do use grow stones.

I recycle mine too

I use the 2s to clone in and get them to a certain size then i transfer to the cups
