I have an Aerogarden that disagrees with you.....Mg is missing calcium, magnesium, trace elements and sulfur I believe. Other than that its an OK nutrient for soil only, it cannot be used in any hydroponic application.

This is wrong and a big misconception! The mix ratio is high......so what do you get when you use 1/3 of the charted amount? How about 1/4? How about 1/6?It doesn't fit with either veg or bloom, the NPK is way off unless you are growing beans or corn
That would get it CLOSE , you are correct,This is wrong and a big misconception! The mix ratio is high......so what do you get when you use 1/3 of the charted amount? How about 1/4? How about 1/6?
The actual ratio of MG is 3-1-2....That is one of the most accepted ratio's for growing cannabis.
Why do powder lovers use 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 and do well? Jack's classic is most likely the most used powdered nutrient out there. What is the label concentration?
20-20-20!
Some like Jack's classic citrus - for the added compounds that MJ likes. 20-10-20, 1/4 tsp = 5 - 2.5 - 5,,, that's pretty damn good..eh? Working value anyway, right?
Help you understand powdered nutrient use better..
24-8-16 is the percentage of npk by weightThat would get it CLOSE , you are correct,
But still WAY to high on N .
But it should at that ratio do OK .
The nute shown has 24_8_16 .
How you going ajust it down to 3 N ?
I am with you on powdered nutes being as good as anything else .24-8-16 is the percentage of npk by weight
24-8-16 and 3-1-2 are the same ratio, another words there's 3x's as much N as P
2x as much K as P Hopefully that makes sense.
Just like a math problem. Gotta break it down to its simplest form. The common dominator in that high nute formula is 8. Divide each ratio by 8 and you get 3-1-2That would get it CLOSE , you are correct,
But still WAY to high on N .
But it should at that ratio do OK .
The nute shown has 24_8_16 .

I understand that , I would never grow with a PK rate of 1 and 2 .Just like a math problem. Gotta break it down to its simplest form. The common dominator in that high nute formula is 8. Divide each ratio by 8 and you get 3-1-2
Math is your friend, friend. That would get it CLOSE , you are correct,
But still WAY to high on N .
But it should at that ratio do OK .

How you going ajust it down to 3 N ?
I have no idea what you are talking about . You want to grow with NO PK go ahead .Math is your friend, friend.
Common denominator...
Ok, look back at that 1 tsp of Jacks citrus being 20-10-20.That would get it CLOSE , you are correct,
But still WAY to high on N .
But it should at that ratio do OK .
The nute shown has 24_8_16 .

I've had the concept of basic math since the third grade,Ok, look back at that 1 tsp of Jacks citrus being 20-10-20.
What would a 1/4 of a tsp be?
Grasp the concept now?
Also, your call of 10-30-30 would fry the shit out of cannabis! WAY too high P and K.
In bloom, with bottled nutrients. I run 4-6-6. Some need less by strain and I adjust for that. At the last few weeks I reduce to 3.5 - 2.5 - 3.5 to be sure the THC concentrations are not fucked by the K levels. I also stop a MgSO4 and K2SO4 supplements for the same reason. Increase the Ca a tic, and the soil has been amended at the start with a mix of Fe, MnSO4, CuSO4, and ZnSO4 to increase THC concentrations.
Gotcha......Guess this goes back to the point I made about The COO of Scott's admitting in an interview. That MG ferts are NOT formulated for cannabis.....It can be done but,,,,,,why?I've had the concept of basic math since the third grade,
Damn I'm not a kid , I actually got taught math in school way way back when.
This is why you would use at half ,1/4 1/3 strength whatever you want to cut it to .
It's not hard to figure out
The stronger the nute the more you cut it making it more economical .
What I am getting at is I do not like the NPK rating on that particular bottle of MG I do not like , because after cutting it to get the N where you need it you PK drops to levels that I do not like at all.
What I am saying is there are nutes that could be used that when cut you would still have a higher PK .
But you guys have been cool , if you like a PK of one , yes you could add other things in to boost the PK up, or just use a nute more suitable .
5-2.5-5 .
You too brotherGotcha......Guess this goes back to the point I made about The COO of Scott's admitting in an interview. That MG ferts are NOT formulated for cannabis.....It can be done but,,,,,,why?
Peace to ya....Max.
Yes I do. Exclusively. It's cheap, it works, and it works well.Where's @TacoMac?
He uses miracle gro...
Why not Miracle Grow ? because this thread is almost 6 years old and the answer has already been stated.
What did they do to make their dry ferts not compatible with Cannabis growing? In fact, it' is true that they formulate their dry ferts to not be compatible for MJ growing.
Smart growers who know what they did. Can make the nutrient work....
Unfortunately, people are stupid. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Miracle Grow products. As stated before, it's all I use. What did they do to make their dry ferts not compatible with Cannabis growing?
