It comes down to whether or not you want to do a shit load of site prep or have to do a shit load of work spread out over the whole season.I like raised bets too, the roots can go deeper but require a lot more work,
Some things are not very practical for several thousand outdoor plants
I can do the same thing they do with a quarter as many plants and near twice the quality with the right light dep complex set up and not do as much work for it.
At the very least if those were individual holes they'd be watering half as much and they could've spent the money they spent on the pots on more soil and had room for an even bigger root system. I have to plant late in my greenhouses in Eugene to keep them from getting too big and still get 7 pounds from the high yielders. If I had room I'd easily break the 10 per ceiling and I'm hundreds of miles north of the triangle.
