Help please, my girls are not doing well,

well lets see what these builders have to say about led lighting i just asked. i asked two questions to all of them. first was do they have to be kept 36 inches away from your canopy, and second, do they have to be kept higher than hid lighting. those were your points right?
No I don't think I said 36 inchers. And yes in regard to hid wattage for wattage. Its all in the charts. And you and them can argue with grow weed easy.com if you/ they like. (you also missed that I linked a manufacture ( a site sponser))

id also ask yourself what your plants are praying for? There are two reason the plants prey. One is due to to much heat and the other is its chasing light.
What are yours praying for?

lol seriously so plants leafs pointing towards the lights are either too far away or too hot? thats ridiculous. and yes, im almost positive you did recommend that distance i may be wrong.put a 600w hps 8 inches away and see how your plants do. unless its an air cooled hood its impossible. the radiant heat coming off the bulb alone is too hot even a foot away without an air cooled hood. so that chart gives ranges but no specifics as to what you have to be using so things differ same with an led. theyre not all the same or built the same. some, with equal watts, will have to be kept closer. kind led is one of the better compared to other low or off brand led panels. (of equal watts) thats why i said you can take ad test 4 different brands and you will see what im talking about not only are the diodes usually different watts depending on the brand which alone means theyre not as intense and need to be kept closer compared to other brand who have higher watt diodes in their panels.

High Wattage (300W+) up to 30" (76cm) or more
Powerful LED grow lights need to be kept relatively far away from your plants to prevent light burn"

also stated brands dont matter.

his are 600w so youre saying they need to be kept 30 or more away and said by the chart 30 to 36

I think my post has you a tad confused.
First of is a quote from growweedeasy. The brand name doesn't matter as its based on wattage, just like the HPS chart.

Then I tried to find a LED Graph like the HPS one I posted and found the picture with the Kind LED.

Unit Farm, the company that did the great giveaway a few months ago and a site sponsor @Unit Farm System Supply said 32 inches from canopy to light for their LED from memory??
Hey Lucky luck, Unit Farm LED Grow lights recommended hanging distance above plants as follows:

Seedling: 24'' Germination: 24''-30'' Veg: 18''-24'' Flower: 12''-18''. Growers can adjust the distance depending on plants growing process and feedback. (:

Are you rooting in rockwool or aero? Those are water roots, they will get a plant going, but the plant will grow new roots to suit the media it is transplanted into.
and usually i go straight into soil with my cuttings. sorry didnt even reply to that part. ive used rockwool but i dont prefer it over going into soil. havent ever used aero cloners

wowowo, you guys are discussing the century hot topic : HPS vs LED. @ttystikk any interests?:mrgreen::mrgreen:
One man's opinion; I ran HPS for years, ran CDM of various stages for years- and pulled my best crops- both in terms of yields and quality- with COB LED.

The were adjustments to be made, but I'm very happy with the switch.

Damn i had no idea yall was having this convo here lol

to be honest,

I didnt even measure whats the distance from plants to light,

I will measure it tomorrow and let yall know

What i do know

The actually wat for my 600w is 276

And 900 it is 418
My 225W COB LED fixtures pull... 225W lol

54W per COB times four, plus about 9 watts for the driver.

The CXB3590 3500K CD bin chips are advertised at 56% efficiency at this wattage under test temperatures of 77F/25C. Because my fixtures are water cooled, I have the ability to run them anywhere between 55-140F. The cooler they run, the more efficient they are.

Did you build this yourself?

Uhhuh. and what are your junction temps?
Most of the stuff at the end of the range on the datasheet will have some ridiculous caveat like it only applies at 5 degrees C or some shit.
It's just how they write data sheets. Competitive science and all that.

LOL TT, were are not discussing HPS vs LED per say. Are you still on the down low or back up and running?

We were discussing distances from canopy. I'm saying led should be kept further away as per what growweed easy say. And Andy is saying they should be closer than HPS.
Grow weed easy say;

1W Bulbs at least 12" (30cm)
3W or 5W Bulbs at least 18" (45cm)
High Wattage (300W+) up to 30" (76cm) or more
Powerful LED grow lights need to be kept relatively far away from your plants to prevent light burn"

UFO80 lights from Unit farm are 170w (a quality low W pre built light) and are recommended for the distances above

Ive also mentioned that his praying leaves are probably caused by not enough light. He is at 18 inchers, 600w HID and if memory serves (I'm old and grey so could be wrong here) in a cooled hood- so loosing another 10 % there. In my opinion praying leaves are caused by to much heat or not enough light, as I'm only running a 600w in a 4 x 4 I get praying leaves around the outside of the tent. (chasing light).

yea, watts are not watts with some led companies.
