Commercial LED lights

Why is it a piece of shit?

You get 600 par at 24 inches with 1000w hps, and you get 1100 par at 24inches with the Goliath.

with half the watts,

is it shit because its not smd diodes or cobs, and used mono diodes?

Hits a better spectrum then HPS, Better spread, and better penetration,

Im not arguing or shittin a storm, i just want to know why you say they are shit.

PS: Im waiting on a Perfect sun mini, so i am biased, lol..

Im just going by Neils grows, and his real measurements he did on the lights, and other grows ive seen.

Is 1100 a PPFD or PPF [par] that seems confusing, first, then is that a spot reading or actual ppfd?

@st0wandgrow

imho it might be worth waiting unless you are just itching for LED fever....

@OneHitDone done
and @a mongo frog

Both elaborate on this quite well, sometimes they run off course, but overall I think they have some good points in this day and age....Even after 4 years the price point still isn't beating HID lighting....its closer than ever, but this is basically new tech still....Price Fixing is inevitable for some time imho....

Now if it was just a tent or closet, I might have different opinion, but for a good sized replacement of 3k Watts, I might not fix what ain't broke :peace:

that is center of each light fixture. Overall at spot reading of each light, Goliath averaged 60 more par then the 1000w. he used a hydrofarm PAR meter i think it was,

I surely cant afford the big SOB, but Im going to make one myself, lol.. I have the plans drawn out, just going to be a hobby thing over the next few months. 256 diodes, my spectrum.

I just like the Monos, its a personal preference thus far. When i modded my Mars300 with new spectrum and lenses, it was a beast. 1400 par at 18inches is pretty damn good for 123 watts, just a shit footprint. Then if you add like 4 together, the heat is tremendous unless you have great hvac to clean, probably like a normal set-up, lol, or a Good set-up.

But the diodes kicked ass for me.

Just Fyi, spot readings are useless if not outright lies.
Nearly all the slug based diode light builders make this claim and is not anywhere near a true representation of PPF....

Now building a DIY model is another story..... you can crush. All about the Photons babee.

Sounds like that light has a serious hotspot right under it.

I want to replace one of my 1000 watt HID lights with whatever the equivalent LED light(s) would be for flower. I have looked through this forum and others, and honestly the amount of options and info is overwhelming. I don’t have the time nor the expertise to build something myself, so I’m looking for a commercial plug-and-play option.

What would my best bet be as far as brand and wattage goes? I currently use an HID on a light rail that covers about a 4’x6’ area for each one of my 1000 watt setups. If I like the results I will phase out the HID’s all together, but I want to start with just one to see how it goes. What light would give me a good idea of the quality/quantity that LED lights can produce?

Thanks for any and all help on this....

"This kit will easily replace any 1000 Watt HID using only 620 Watts of power producing a massive 1450 PPF total output! To put this in perspective, a single ended 1000 watt produces around 1250 PPF total. The HLG-600H produces 16% more light than the SE1000 watt with 38% less power! The kit uses 4 high efficiency Quantum Boards QB-288 driven by a HLG-600H-54B and comes pre-assembled and tested (recommended) or ready to assemble."

go with pre-assembled if you want plug and play.. $723

those numbers are literally meaningless
if thats the case, then from here on out, EVERYONE, stop measuring Par, because its meaningless.

So, whats meaningfull to YOU.? U going to come with fancy BS words like efficacy, efficiency, 2x56hSqar*2Nhm BS?

Explain how these numbers are meaningless, but across the board, everyone measures PAR.

If i said LUX, i see your point, but we're not.

but then again, your an advertiser, your supposed to dog out and destroy people that dont use YOUR product line or brand. I see ya.

Then what is the issue?????
It was a question for the purpose of clarification on your statement that it might take a couple of fixtures to replace a 1000w HID. Your statement made me wonder if you were implying that there isn't a retail LED replacement for a thousand watter, so in the interest of NOT putting words in your mouth, I asked the question.

Bro, can we please stop using PPF as a measurement of light. Your supposed to use the back of your hand,
