First time grower. When to switch over to 12/12 in 48x48x80 tent

As the title states in a first time grower. I have an apollo horticulture 48x48x80 tent currently. I have 4 girls in there now. Each a different strain. Gorilla glue #4. Quicksand Kush. Grape ape. OG Ghost Train haze. Roght now there all pretty close in height and size. Aroumd 12-13 inches. The quicksand kush is the only one out growing the rest at 18 inches high. I have them under a 400watt hps and 450 watt viparspectra led. I feel like if I don't switch to flowering now, they will quickly outgrow the size of my tent. Anyone have advice on if I should continue veg or start flowering. I've been pulling and bending back branches to prevent them from getting to tall but I also don't want them overly bushy. Here's a pic of the girls for reference!

Greetings, you can flower when ever you like.

I'm pretty sure that grape ape won't stretch much. Like 10%

Some people wait until they are 18-24 inches before flip. Nothing worse than growing 4 gr babies and spending 800$ to do it.

Grape never gets tall just bushes out like 3 ft tall and 4-5ft wide.

I heard the og ghost train haze stretches quite a bit. Can even triple its size by the end. I'm considering going to buy some netting and draping it across the entire surface area right above the tops of the plants. And then another layer 10-12 inches above that to help promote growing upwards and not into the walls

20170426_074908.jpg lay down your net and do some training. Fill your canopy out for best results. It is easier with more plants smaller pots. (are thoes 10 gal pots? Im in a 50in x50in almost the exact same size tent. This is them a few days before flip

Wow those look great! They look so healthy! I have them in 7 gallon pots. I've accepted the fact i provably wont get the best yield since this is my first time. I'm just trying to get an idea of how they grow throughout there entire life cycle. I love your idea of more smaller potted plants. Also dont need to worry about vegging as long that way. Thank you for the tips man!

Just wanted to add some before and after shots for reference of how long they have been under the lights. Recvd cuts 3 weeks ago. First week and a half was using just 400 watt mh. Second week and a half had the 450watt led added to it. Second set of pics are before and after of my outdoor monster. Recvd cut on June 21st. Latest pic was taken July 25th.

I realozed after that comment you made about the grape ape not stretching much. It's by far the slowest growing of the 4. . With quicksand kush in first and the og ghost train haze in 2nd for growth speed.

You can use smaller pots but root bound is likely if too small. research the strain and decide what size medium to use. Wouldn't wanna starve your babies

It doesn't grow fast unless in Dwc, but it makes the densest buds I have seen yet.
Ex. 1 jar of headband is 33-35g, grape ape was at 80-90g a jar filled to same height. Solid rocks. Runs/finish 56-64 days.

As a general rule 1 gal per month. From seed 5 gal is abought perfect. From clone 3 gal. With larger pots you water less often but need more. With fabric or airpots you dont need to worry abought root binding and the plants can grow larger than thoes in plastic pots

Wow I didn't know all about that. Might go with cloth pots next time. And thanks for advice on picking a pot size. These are 7 gallon pots because i wanted to give them as much room as possible since I was unsure of how long I was gonna veg for being this is my first time ever growing . Any tips for scrogging? I just set up my netting a couple days ago. Made sure all the lines were pulled tight and secured in all four corners of the tent. Also question regarding outdoor grow. I have a sunset sherbet about 3 ft high and 4 feet wide in which ive been bending back tallest branches to let the middle fill In more and also lolli popped her around week 3 of veg. Ideas of stabilizing all those branches outdoors? Thouhht about stakes. But there are so many chutes there would be a see of stakes lol. Not sure what my options are

Lol this was when I was transplanting the sunset sherbet from 5 gal. To 15 gallon pot. Huge roots were beginning to surface near the tops of the soil it was so root bound. This picture doesent even do it justice lol

outsoors dont loly pop so much the sun can penitrate a very thick canopy unlike grow lights for support build a pvc frame and strech netting acrost it. Sry no real advice on scroging its more usefull with weaker grow lights. I have only done it once. To help a friend who lost half there crop i gave 5 to and kept 4 myself and a scrog was the only way i could fill my entire area with only 4 plants. My yeald suffered that round. Not because i gave away plants. Not because the scrog. Because i ran the scrog. My first. I assume if i did it again 1 or 2 times i would get the weight back but that probably wont happen takes to long to veg for my likings

food for thought... In my experience clones dont have as good of a root system as a plant started from seed. maybe its just the strain i was working with.

Nope your right clones dont have the roots that seed plants do. The most noticable difference is a clones total lack of taproot.
