The money here by and large is in the trades. Plumbing and Electrician can pay up to $140 an hr. Also specialized construction workers like excavator operators. They can earn close to the same amounts depending on the tonnage of the digger

grafix make me nauseas . code is boring data entry is slave labor. i respect the work and i consult. to each his own. why should someone have to do something they don't want to be a part of, like most jobs people re forced into
Lol...

If you think you can generalise the entire tech sector into 3 generalised roles...

The point either way was that if people can be educated/retrained there are lots of well paying jobs out there that are unlikely to be replaced anytime soon.

to a large extent yes, once they conquered the population was historically peaceful. they got roads, running water, law and order and the economy of rome. They thrived..for a time
once they conquered they had slaves and they forced people to die violently in the coliseum. prety much the threat of violence for dissidents and many but ok , peacefully , like we live peacefully i guess

I'm somewhat the opposite, absolutely terrible at front end "looks good" stuff, quite good at the back end stuff.

I love electronics; building something and programming it to work, tinkering, forever iterating upon it.

And I don't even wear glasses!

One of the great things about a min wage that people can not only live on but also have disposable income is that they can afford to hire people like me. (non skilled labor) to do the jobs they dont want to do. Be it mowing a lawn, hiring a skip bin or paying someone else to do their bond clean. It creates employment.

Well if I got UBI in addition to what I earn anyway I'd probably spend nearly 75% of it every month.

If everyone else did the same that's alot of money flowing not just into the economy but around it too.

That time ended when the society became too unequal and corrupt. The empire of Rome only lasted 250 years or so.

If America doesn't reverse the corruption we're doomed. With our military, we could easily take the rest of the world down with us.

Singapore shows that it's possible to have a society without corruption but it is pretty tightly controlled. That said, keeping a firm handle on corruption is one of the big reasons they grew so fast.

A basic income will be much cheaper than most believe. Just look up the costs of mental illnesses, mainly depression, for the economy. Easily 50% of that is because a lot of people are stuck financially and worry about their future, something that would be a thing of the past with a UBI. And this is only the cost side.

..What is the point if a wage at all, if not to live? The idea that people should work for less than what can be lived off of is completely backwards. Any answer you could give is just a half-assed argument CEOs use to prevent losing their yachts and gold toilets at the expense of a worker they rightly could pay a fair wage.
The problem is that of compromise.

One side wants to let CEOs run wild and the other wants to rape and pillage them, there needs to be a middle ground where both sides can leave feeling relatively satisfied.

That's totally fair. I'm just saying, look at what the CEO of McDonald's makes, what a store employee makes, and what the entire business makes in general. It's pretty disgusting. They could afford to pay their workers more than what they do. Y'know?

Look across the ocean.

Britian has a 50% tax on all earnings over £250,000 per year.

Their Conservative and Liberal parties argue over 0.5% changes to that, but both sides have accepted it needs to be in and around that figure.

We need to reach a similar consensus to our limey friends over there.
