She has Michigan on a "voucher" system that has created white flight from big city public schools. This has created out of control gang havens in high schools in those cities! Ottawa Hills HS in Grand rapids is the perfect example! The public school system has become a dumping ground for "undesirables".
The republicans in control of the state have even made state funding of religious pvt schools legal. This simply reduces the funding for public schools, and that fuels the decline of quality public education even further!

Once she is accepted to the Sec. of Education......The rest of the country can enjoy the results of her idiotic ideals! Her argument is that funding PVT schools will lower their tuition costs so more can go to them. And those too poor to do that will have their children languishing in sub par public systems that are filled with nothing but those who can not afford to better themselves!

I live in MI and have personally watched the decline in our public school quality, directly related to her lobbying and billions, influencing the republican controlled state congress.

Your all about to see this on a national level! The fall of the Roman empire! It'll be all us below the 2% line that pays for it!

I have a right to whine.. ( I get ya)..I watched one of the top rated public schools in the state, decline before my eye's. My son's were in it. By the time they hit high school. Class room size was ridiculous, Books were out of date and the PC lab was a joke! My oldest son did more for fixing and IT duties then the sap they hired to do the job. He never had time on the job to do shit but take bad hand held units in and hand out partially fixed others..
I asked my son why he donated so much time to make it better. He said at least he, his brother and their friends would have working units to turn their work in with (All assignments HAD to be submitted by the crappy mini laptop)...

Oh but did the football team loose anything? Oh HELL NO! Art = gone! Band? Cut from grade school and limited in middle/high (what the fuck, eh? Musical people are sissy's anyway (Unless they play goat rope'in music)! Stupid, redneck jocks gotta have football!) Other things cut and after school activities reduced adhoc! The best Teachers left for better situations in pvt schools!

Hmm. dude, this subject has been taken apart, put together, turned upside down, scrambled, reassembled, looked at sideways, up, down and from inside out. There is not a single publication from any credible source that claims race is a predictive factor in crime. I'm not talking about Mother Jones or Huffington Post. I'm talking about the Dept of Justice, NIH, Dept. of Education, the Surgeon General, a score of reputable colleges.

The subject is complex. There are 30 predictive risk factors and another 20 protective factors or factors that reduce risk. Race fails as a predictive factor when all the other factors are included in a study.

I agree that if you did a little research you can determine whatever outcome you like. It would be neither useful or true but you can do a simple count of people in prison, compare racial statistics in an out of prison and viola, you have the simple answer for your simple mind. When looked at in detail that simple conclusion falls apart.

Social-economic status has a huge effect. So does family life -- did the parents fight? did the kid experience abuse? or exposure to lead or the neighborhood and presence of gangs. It's really complicated. And simpletons like you can't deal with complexity.

Yeah man. Art and music help shape the way we think esp. Growing up with brain developing. And wtf? Shifting inadequate resources to institutions that have there own adaquate budget there by reducing the means of half the children in the country to get a decent education is not in the countrys best interest. It is in the interest of hard right christian Conservatives who will fund christian schools and schools that teach alt right ideas. Teaching kids this way is in the best interest of facist leaders because look how easy it is to take power when enough people are brainwashed and or scared.
