Hey thanks a lot!! At that point I was just using HB staedtler pencils, I got one of those lead holders because you can get the point pretty sharp on them easily, and I still use HB for all of my initial sketches before inking. As for inspiration, its basically whatever I'm thinking about at the moment. I don't plan drawings out much beforehand. Especially at this early stage, I was just starting with an unreferenced face and just kept adding/changing shit. Its weird to explain this because I'm not sure if everyone understands. I tried to tell someone this and they thought I draw with my eyes closed. LOL. It's more like I can see where to put lines more easily in my head, or if there are a bunch of lines, which ones make the most sense to me at the moment, visually.

Besides that, maybe a lifetime of being a horror movie fan, metalhead, and just being into weird shit in general. I should clarify that I have been drawing since I was little, but it has mostly been very small sketches. Prior to smoking/drawing again I had given up drawing completely for about 3 years. I don't know about the future, I still feel like my style is developing because I try to learn something new with each drawing. Here were my first few times using ink. I went right into using a dip/nib pen because it seemed interesting, but this didn't last long after I re-discovered microns. Also started experimenting more with references, different paper, and watercolor at this point early 2016.

great stuff! you have quite a wild imagination.:fire: you have serious skills and handle that pen with such tight precision and it all seems so natural for you.
I dig your subject matter as well. some of it is so bizarre, which makes it so interesting. :-P
Its got a surreal feel to it,. The drawing with the women who slit her wrists to feed the goats is pretty slick!!
Do you like Salvador Dali? and what metal bands are you into.? :weed::D Cannibal Corpse has some really sick art work. I am into metal too. I was living in Tampa Florida when the death metal scene was first really big and saw some KILLER shows at the small venue downtown... Death, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Carcass, to name a few. :peace:

Whoa!! Thanks so much! I still feel like i am just getting started.

I know what you must be wondering, whats with all the girls, right? I will admit I get certain feelings for women, most definitely when I'm high. I think I am so fascinated by this that I find it interesting to draw. I mostly learned to draw around 2006 or so, from old art instructional books of andrew loomis and jack hamm, but I never got far into them, only really learned to draw faces and I drew a LOT of unreferenced faces all over my notebooks. Thats where I always start, with a face or a skull. As for the animals, I think I just enjoy drawing hair and fur, lol. Not sure why I made that slit wrist girl doing that, I'm actually a very non-violent person in real life, so I'm not sure where this comes from.

And yes, I am a huge fan of Dali's work, its just other-worldly and beautiful.
what the fuck? You dont meet many people with the exact same taste in music very often!!
I LOVE all of the bands you mentioned, I should show you some of my vinyl collection!!!! I post them on instagram sometimes. ;)
Metal bands: Autopsy, Entombed, Dismember, Napalm Death, Bathory, Electric Wizard, Sleep, Bongripper, Celtic Frost, Opeth, etc!!!!
I also really love old industrial like: skinny puppy, front line assembly, godflesh, kmfdm
Also into the progressive stuff: Dream theater, anathema, porcupine tree
And lots of weird stuff like Mr. Bungle, Oingo Boingo
What are some more bands youre into

Sharing my journey into art, from the beginning: (staring end of September, 2015)
Here is my earliest stuff before I started using pen and ink. I was smoking Sour D at the time (at least that's what the guy said it was) Will add more soon. Thanks for looking.

Love the drawing of the lady exhaling the colour from the bong hit. Legit would pay money for that. Minus the witch theme though haha, maybe if she was leaning/sitting against a tree blowing the colour into the landscape in front of her.

Thanks! I have been experimenting with perspective a bit more lately, and making something like that would be an excellent challenge! ALTHOUGH I don't use color much anymore, I might give this a shot at some point.

IMG_1657.JPG I will check it out. Saw tool in concert 3 times. They put on a great performance. When I saw them in Philly the fire sprinklers went off and everyone got wet. That was trip. I saw Entombed at that same small venue in Philly called the Trocadero. What a fantastic show! There was some freaky guy sitting by me frantically drawing sketches of them during the entire performance.

You make me want to go to a metal show so bad. Always wanted to, but I get anxious in crowds, it's something I need to work on. Maybe getting baked before will help :eyesmoke:
Here are some of the recent movie fan art pencil sketches I've been doing lately, really enjoy working with pencil and bristol vellum. Also trying to use references more, but not trying to copy exactly whats in the picture.

Thank you so much, you have no idea what this means. I am so glad I listened to you.
That shit I was using was so frustrating, I'd spend so much time redrawing shit. Shading is so much easier now, and fun as hell.
I think the fan art is helping keep my mind focused, I must have watched these movies tons of times all through my 20s, so there are lots more I want to do.

I feel like the drawings have changed drastically over the last few weeks. This is how I've always wanted to draw, it feels so comfortable. And I think I understand why working with mechanical pencils feels so much more comfortable now. All through school and college, my notebooks would be filled with little drawings done with mechanical pencils, so I have used them a lot. I think the practice I got over the last year using ink has also really helped.

Here's one for Return of the Living Dead. I wanted to practice unreferenced symmetry with this, haven't tried that much.

i hear ya dude.:leaf: I am also finding a hella lot of freedom with these pencils. I was frustrated as hell for years drawing and redrawing and destroying drawing after drawing. Then i looked back at my drawings on my wall thinkin how in the fuck did i ever get those details so small>? i dont remember using mechanical pencils but i must ave to get the detail i got in em. I was a little stiff with em for like a week but now they are like butter in my hand. The 2B .5 i can get some real nice darks and lights in one stoke with the change in the pressure i apply. real nice!
I have not gotten into ink at all. Seems like the next step but i enjoy pencil so much and i am constantly changing my design and erase so much. I use the eraser as a tool to create texture and shading and feel i would lose a lot of that if i went over to pen n ink. kinda too "illustration" slick and polished looking to me. I do prefer a RAW original unprocessed look.
I am so glad you found a new awakening with the pencils, that fuckin Rocks man! your work looks real tight, keep it up man!:peace:bongsmilie:-P I am looking forward to seeing how you progress forward with your subject matter. :weed:

DAT, thank you so much, that really means a lot. When I was drawing the goat girls, I was laughing so hard, high as fuck the whole time, I think that was about 4 smoke sessions worth of work, and every moment was fun.

I think that the drawings had become too serious for a while, but I am slowly trying to get back into the weirder shit now, thanks to you!

And no, I have not sold any drawings yet.
