Perhaps he felt remorse for oppressing millions of "his people" for 50 years or maybe it was the the 15,000+ people that he and his executed in the name of the revolution or maybe for sending folks to Forced Labor Camps?

Doctors and lawyers are considered a valuable "national resource" in Cuba, and are exported to serve as political tools for the country.

I have three Cuban physicians sitting with me this very table, and my brother dated an amazing Cuban lawyer for a while. The lawyer loved Castro; he paid for her education and jump started her international legal career. The physicians were around when Castro wasn't so nice, and they hold a deep seeded animosity for the man.

if Castro were truly a monster he would have sold out to the US, taken their cash, backing and protection like so many other petty dictators the US has either installed or bought.

Pinochet was a monster, Marcos was a monster, Pol Pot and scores more, all backed and aided by the US.
Castro was none of these though obviously the opportunity was always there, all he had to do was enrich himself with US dollars.

look at this list of deeds and "democracy" the US has spread all around the world. then tell me who can call who a human rights violator.

the point here is not only a direct comparison though a comparison in entirely fair because the pot can't call a light gray kettle black.
the point is he did not sell out his people for personal gain and power. he could easily have been a monster and the US would loved him.

here are just some things he denied his people:

ham flavored jello and cheese product sandwiches.

homelessness

the right wing insanity

phoney political parties.

$90,000 a pill medical treatment

heavy debt obligation for education or too bad.

Wall st.

the embargo denied his people more.

they had clean water and natural, unadulterated food. in spite of the embargo.

he was no monster. the job was offered to him more than once and he turned it down.

Lets keep draining americans savings. My Diabetes meds are $800+ per month.
Any idea how much pot I have to grow to cover that?

10 chicken nuggets $1.79, it’s cheap to eat be in “America” It’s the living after eating that’s unaffordable.

Why dont we figure out why your medication is so expensive. I bet competition would drive those costs down.

Lets fix the problem, not keep paying for the symptoms.
