Stressing my girl to make a lot of trichomes ?

Maine Buds

The true secret to increasing trichome production is quite obvious actually, low humidity. I came to realize that every year during the very dry winters when the humidity gets as low as 10% where I live, my buds would be WAY more frosty looking! So I decided to buy a dehumidifier which I use during flowering now and I have seen a great increase in trichome production on plants. It makes great sense too since one of the main natural functions of trichomes are to insulate the plant during bouts of low humidity.
This is exactly right my flower room humidity is 10% with lights on and 42% with lights out. So I have full blow trich production by day 20 they are 30 now and are so frosty!

It's most likely the interaction of the sulfur with OTHER nutrients that effect the availablity of the nutrients that DO produce tric increases. So it's a relationship thing working for you.

BTW, yes "Sweet" is costly, But you can make your OWN for pennies on the dollar!

Boil 4 cups of water. To that add 8 TBL of Epsom salt and 1 1/2 tsp of dark brown sugar. Boil till dissolved.
Add enough water to equal 1 gallon.......You now have a gallon of $65.00 "Sweet" that cost you LESS then 2.00 to make!

Works exactly the same.....Oh, yes. That adds sulfur too, as it's made from Mg sulfate.
Thanks Doc. This recipe has its own entry in my journal.

yea man, its been a slow grow, its my first time and I didnt have good soil or powerful lights, and its bag seed , that makes for a small slow plant. but at least its flowering and in the last days there's been lots more pistils growing in the main cola and in all nodes.

Nope, using CFL 6400k. I honestlly dont think it will take till Xmas for harvest but judging how they are developing I hope 3 weeks maybe 4 weeks more:D
I'll post some update pics soon .
My buds are more developed the first week of flower! I agree at this rate it'll be Christmas bud but hey you can stick her outside to get some frost lol.

Under your conditions...not a bad first grow, your learning.
You really need to get better lights, as said before a good 400-600 watter will do wonders for your grow, a good tent goes a long way too, also bigger pots, I do 15 gl in my tent...good nuts is a must, I use DR Earth, it is costly but worth every penny. as you go you will get all the other equipment like inline fan and filter, dehumidifier things like that...BUT! the most important thing to learn is just let the plants do there thing and not harvest too early.

I would stay away from plastic pots...except for the seedling stage a 1 gl pot works very well then transplant into its final pot and fabric pot work the best for me.

Sulfur? WHAT? That will not INCREASE tric production. The use of a Mg Sulfate solution like "Sweet" from Botanicare might increase the resin production, but not the amount of trics......It also effects the production of terps...

Try this.....up the K by 3. (0-0-3) This DOES work......To increase tric's....
Are you still of this belief?
I hope not, 2 years later...

Don't listen to that guy.
You don't have to spend money on bullshit nutrients. Try dyna gro, or jacks. Super cheap compared to OVERPRICED CRAP like recommended. You need efficient light that produces less heat.
More watts are not always better. In a tent, heat and other factors show up. It's best to use lower power until you can easily control your environment. Do your research, and remember that light and nutrient companies want you to buy more...

Your right about the nuts, MG works fine on the cheap I just like organic myself and yes heat is an issue in tents but a good inline fan does wonders for that, but the one thing the person needs is better lighting...that alone will take him/her light years ahead if this grow

I'll give you that, LED's are getting much better, but I will give it a couple more years before I switch.
By then it will be tough to find bulbs.
If anything, flowering under a hps with a blue spike would be ok. I'm using a ushio with blue until I can afford cob leds. But happy plants don't stink, and hps makes stinky fuckers. So, against conventional thought, raise your lights. You'll have more penetration, and likely better growth. Not to mention more frost, as it will not use up as much fighting the heat.
Don't hold out too long, hid lamps produce inferior bud, comparitively.

There is no secret additive thats going to give you more teichrome production if thats where your at 5 weeks into flower. The only thing thats going to improve your current situation is going to be more light (much more), good soil, and a proper environment. Honestly, I would save up a little, get a decent light, some good soil, pick up a bottle of dynagro foliage pro, get your environmentals set and start over. Even a cheap little mars hydro or viraspectra led will get you lightyears ahead of of where your at now. I know people talk shit about them, but you can pull some pretty solid buds off a little 1-2 plant grow with one of those. Also, order some decent seeds... good genetics are a very good investment. You can't expect good trich coverage from genes that just wont allow it.
Ill bet you anything your current area is not light proof so your getting inconsistant light/dark periods which is causing sporadic flowering. You look like your maybe a week into flowering. Also, veg your plant long enough to get it to at least 15" tall if your hoping to harvest anything worth your while... should veg at least 3-4 weeks. That plant look like it was maybe vegged for a week then stopped growing.
Good luck!

And what proof says sulfur equals more resin ?
Are you still of this belief?
I hope not, 2 years later...
read down - GardenGnome83 gave you a paper on the subject....

Oh hell no, I'm not......for the life of me. I'm not sure why I didn't believe that or why I posted back and forth about it!
Must have been brain dead that week or something.......Sulfur - absolutely increases trich production! Still wondering just where my mind was then...anyway..

I totally thought so!
I read that like, "wtf, this must be when he knew it all."lol
Figured as much.

Environment, grower, genetics.
Actually, if you would take the time to research what affect sulfur has on plants, you'd see it is anything but a fad. The nutrient companies, when they bottle it up in liquid form, are sellin bs snake oil.
This, and UV supplementation, can increase tric's and their resin content.
As far as genetics, bagseed brought us chemdog. Don't buy into the flavor of the day pollen chuck, look for guys that seem to understand genetics, and if you're going to pay more than $75, make sure it's not an F1, get a worked line. Stable.
Some idiots pay 250 a pack for a fad lol
Grab a good NL cross and work thst shit.
You'll know if you're doing it right...
