Matching Drivers and COBs

@ttystikk no I don't yet but plan to order soon. I already have the 4x4 tent. so basically you think I should use 4 drivers instead of 2? Really wanted to minimize number of drivers in my build.
No, use two of those drivers with 4 chips each. OR... I didn't catch that you're looking to fill a 4x4 before. So here's plan M;

Same 8 CXB3590 36V chips, CD bin or better, 3500K if you can get them.

Pair them up this time with just one Meanwell 320h [help me out here, someone! 2100mA? ] to drive the chips at 75W each. The result will pull about 630W with the driver and will easily replace a thousand watts of SE HPS.

Plan M, for Maximizer. Johnson Grow Lights already makes what I've described and it would be ideal for that space. It's even air cooled and has built in ducts. So it's up to you whether you want to save a couple hundred bucks and DIY or just snag a Maximizer off the website and be done.

I like that plan, but What about 2 hlg320-1050 & 16 cxb3590 36v, for more spread and cooler running temps?

I'm looking at replacing 6 185hs with 4 320s :)

And adding 4 additional chips/increasing voltage. Going from 1050ma to 2100ma

So it would be best for current, and my wallet, just to go with plan M, 8 cobs and the 320-2100. That sounds really good to only need 1 driver. As long as you think my spread will be OK for flowering.

Your spread will have nothing to do with the driver and everything to do with how you arrange your chips over the canopy.

With plan M, I would probably use 3 heatsinks like this:
x---x---x
--x---x--
x---x---x
Im guessing plan M will require active cooling?

You will need more than one HLG-320H-C2100B to run 8 CXBs. As the name suggests this driver outputs maximum 320W. You would need 2 of these drivers to run your 8 CXB. good luck

I think I'd rather go with at least 12 cobs to get that spread over the 4x4 since I must use at least 2 drivers.

Would 8 36v cxb3590 at 1400mA be bright enough for 4x4?
In the formation
x---x---x---x
x---x---x---x

I just have an extra 185-1400 I need to put to use.

First, I'd place my chips in a stop sign pattern. That means a pair of chips on each of 4 smaller heat sinks.

Second, I think you'll be happier using one HLG600-2100 to power them at 75W each, in order to get the light pressure you want over that square footage. A relatively unknown advantage is that this driver runs more efficiently than the smaller ones, which makes up for needing a lot more chips to run higher efficiency numbers.

I think 400W will be running just a bit dim for best plant expression, though you'd likely get some killer gram per watt numbers. If you go this route, get 12 chips and 3 drivers. That's much more expensive for very little additional gain.

But at the end of the day, are you looking for maximum gpw- or maximum grams?

Out of those two choices, maximum GPW. I really would prefer to only run 8 cobs in the 4x4 if its enough to flower, to save the money not buying 4 or 8 additional cobs.

Maybe only 8 is enough but I think I should run them at 1750mA or 2100mA. Sucks I have an extra 185-1400 laying around and I probably won't use it.

With 4 heatsinks, could I possibly achieve passive cooling?
