Are my buds too small?

i wouldnt beat yourself up over it as there is still the possibility that your particular strain doesnt grow large buds. just because you see some guy holding one of his buds next to a 2 liter coke bottle to show off how massive it is doesnt mean it wasnt photo shopped by some guy with confidence issues. i noticed this first hand when trying out other strains, leaves can very in size and shape and some buds are small while some others are very dense and fat. there is some art to this, youll eventually feel like you know the plant personally after so many clone cycles and experimenting.

Hugh I know lots of people who grow in 5 gallon buckets and have to cut the bottoms off and bury them in the ground because the plant gets so big and roots take up the whole bucket ......no need to stay away from forums just do your homework before you start telling people things won't work when they will just fine. Cutting the bottom off completely eliminates the drainage problem associated with 5 gal buckets.

5 gallon buckets suck when growing in soil. Why aren't nurseries full of plants in 5 gallon buckets if they work so well? Did you find a nursery pot with the same dimensions yet? The 'ribs' on those nursery pots are there for a reason also. What about drainage hole size and quantity for a 5 gallon bucket?

I'll say the same thing AGAIN.
Can you grow a plant in a 5 gal bucket? Yes.
Are there better pots/containers? Yes.

The OP is a new grower IMO or he wouldn't be asking a question like this. So why perpetuate more stoner wisdom off the web?
Check out the commercial grows all over IG, do you see any of them using 5 gallon buckets?

I've been at this a long time, my homework was done probably before you smoked your first joint.

Lol your cute I kinda like you .....and I'm sure your some big time commercial grower with 490 years experience ......but when I first started I used lots of 5 gal buckets plastic pots and grew some beautiful medicine .....nobodies talking about commercial grows there turbo and I could see now you have no experience in the situation so your pushing it off to commercial grows and doing things before I smoked my first joint .......temper tantrums are amusing and thanks for the laugh ......comparing a backyard beginner to a commercial grow lmao .....a if you can't put a few drain holes in the bottom of a bucket sorry your that retarted and I know tons of growers who sink buckets in the ground purposely when they plant .......but your an expert I'm just a guy who grows great medicine and doesn't throw hissy fits like a 15 year old girl on the internet because there full of shit ......thanks for the laugh though

If you want to grow big buds In soil then 5gal buckets ain't enough. Best success I've had in soil are buckets that are 9 gal + and longer veg time.

Otherwise just switch to hydro and be done with soil. Build a rdwc and you'll love it.

why are you guys not just making your own fabric pots? they are very easy to make. iv made them, i didnt even know how to sew at the time. the sewing machine i got came with a dvd that shows you how to do it. you can make lots of pots for the fraction of the cost it would take if you buy those things.

this yellow fabric is even cheaper than the felt and allows the soil to breathe and is also very strong for its use.

this is cheaper than Eco Fi felt.

i found it at walmart and it comes in all kinds of colors. its very strong stuff. just make a small hem at the top of the pot to help stop flare out over time.

Yeah when I first started as a kid I'd use buckets tiny flower pots big flower pots pretty much anything that would hold dirt ....for years now I just poke holes in the ground and grow my forest that way on my ranch outdoors....but for someone to say a 5 gallon bucket can't grow a good plant and doesn't drain is obviously doing something wrong.....I use to have plants coming out of buckets that were so big it looked like a monkey fuckin a coconut dumbest looking thing ever lol..... But possible fuck ya .....is there better ways of course no doubt ........

It doesn't matter if its a home depot bucket or a proper pot or a fabric pot imo 5 gal Is 5 gal. People are just getting sucked into these bullshit "smart pots" and "fabric pots". Not sure why you mention draining, i never said anything about draining?

I'm using a 600w hps light in soil. Using general hydroponics floragro trio for nutes. I started flowering at about week 5 of veg. They've been flowering for about 4-5 weeks now and I just feel like the buds should be way bigger. Also is it okay for the leaves to be yellowing right now? The lowest fan leaves are slowly turning and then falling off. Any help is appreciated!

got a budy, has sumin very similar, and about same time flowering, prolly a lil longer 5 weeks, similar looking buds, i think maybe the wattage, i mean, last year outdoors the buds were fatter
