Ive got the original Optic vero 29 light. It grows great plants, no joke. I have more than enough light in my space so Id like to upgrade this light with dimming ability.

Right now it uses 4 x lpf-90-42 to power 4 x V29.
To enable dimming on that setup is swapping out the drivers the wisest move?

Also Is there a driver that is dimmable and drives 2x V29 @~ 2.1mA?

If it will fit, I think the HLG-320H-C2100B would be the closest replacement for what you have, power-wise. An HLG-185H-42B would work in parallel, as @robincnn said.

Looks like single driver 2x V29 @~ 2.1mA is possible only with parallel cobs.
HLG-120H-1400 with 2x new 52V Vero B is close
lpf-90D-42 is the dimmable version of lpf-90-42 but these are are not as cheap and 1 per driver.

Thanks man. It turns out that with 4 x v29 and 4 x cxb 3590 in my roughly 2x4 space I could use more clearance (or dimming). I believe that I am having better outcomes with larger plants in bigger pots. Lately it looks like plants in 10-15 gal pots can make better use of the high irradiance.

Ok boys, be gentle on me..... I know your cobs is bigger than mine

Thanks to my bro @Evil-Mobo I will soon be taking some Vero18's for a test drive in my little chicken shit 22x22 ghetto rigged tent that I used to win the last party comp :hump:
I have a choice of 3500K & 4000K. Thinking 4 of the 3500K had better get the job done or I might as well be using a 250hps instead

I think the decision on spacing / how hard to drive them / lenses might be more important than K temp. I use V29's at 4 k, they work great. I use cxb's at 3500k, they work great.

On a serious note, use em all. They are tiny cobs on relatively small heatsinks, those look like 9980s? So shoot for under 40W each and string em up!

Actually received some Double Big Johnson Penetration but this is the Vero thread so let's keep it clean

Double thanks to @Stephenj37826 of Johnson Grow Lights for the cup sponsor

He will be running a mean well 240-1050b so depending how many of the cobs he runs on it will determine how many watts per. I was going to run all of them on this driver which would put you at around 28w each I believe and then you have the option of hooking up the dimmer

No matter how many cobs he runs, they will be about 30W each, since it's a constant current driver, but your plan was a good plan. And exactly what he should do to give them a real chance. Maybe 8 inch spacing or so.

You know I almost made a flashlight joke, but I showed dignified restraint instead. There's plenty of uses for spot and downlight stuff, although if you have 12ft high ceilings I'm sure you could get MAXIMUM PENETRATION.
