Picky. the point being it is an inefficient florescent compared to ledsCfl t5?
We use linear t5. A cfl is a spiral bulb.

Its not picky.Picky. the point being it is an inefficient florescent compared to leds
don't.....lolHow can I take what you say serious
8 twin tube led or 8 twin tube flouro?don't.....lol
I like it when people change to led's.......just been given 8 twin tube complete with bulbs for free.....if they cost 300 to buy...then i got 300 of free electric, so yes leds are more effictient for me
Lol.Fluro, 4ft gotta make more room, or lay them in between like a wall....gonna have 1500w combind lighting in a 10' x 10' x 6', got a couple of 250w hps in there aswell...also freebies.
really like some of your grow's...did you manage to fit the t5 on the outdoor grow..lol
doublejj is an outdoor grower. T5's are only used to veg em a bit, thats all....Anything 400W or larger, there's no reason not to use HPS, and for anything smaller, it's probably worth investing in cob lighting.
With the prices of cobs as low as they are, T5 is obsolete. You're all just throwing away money. Don't shoot the messenger.
Even the best grower on this forum doublejj should really be looking into slowly phasing out his veg T5 with cobs. It's particularly good value because they're left on for 18 to 24 hours per day vs only 12. I don't want to give him advice because he's obviously an expert grower (way better than me), but he could save a lot of money even with todays prices. LED's are still expensive, but T5 is also expensive. The price points are closer than most people think (per par watt). T5 $/PARW is expensive.
I understand that. You get the most value out of a high efficiency veg lamp because it's on for more hours of the day, making it a better investment than a flowering lamp. The amortization time is a lot lower.doublejj is an outdoor grower. T5's are only used to veg em a bit, thats all....
That's definitely an understatement. A bit? lol. Those things are giants!veg em a bit
Yeah but they arent getting that big at his house. They veg in a small carport then they are put outdoor greenhouseThat's definitely an understatement. A bit? lol. Those things are giants!
I use t5's because they are cheap & easy to get & give good wide coverage & I only use them for vegging small plants. They work well for what I use them for.Anything 400W or larger, there's no reason not to use HPS, and for anything smaller, it's probably worth investing in cob lighting.

T5 is definitely easier, but I think you're overestimating the price of cobs. T5s at this point are actually starting to look expensive in comparison to cobs these days, and as prices keep coming down, it's becoming more and more obvious and I think will soon become a no-brainer. (once people get over the cultural shift).I use t5's because they are cheap & easy to get & give good wide coverage & I only use them for vegging small plants. They work well for what I use them for.
So.
Care to put your bud up against my t5 bud? Church haze wouldn't. He did send me pics but wasn't willing to post them publicly.
vegging for more hours can cause problems when introducing outside, you apparently don't grow outside. I've had some plants begin flower going from 18 hrs inside to 15 hrs outside then reveg which is no good. Now I start the outdoor at 16/8. Even indoor that's my veg cycle. I read here before that high light cycles like 20/4 and 24/0 are of no added benefit because the plants need a sleep cycle and can only efficiently absorb so much light per day, and will still sleep whether the lights are on or offI understand that. Veg is the low hanging fruit, and doublejj would actually see more benefit from cobs than anyone else on this forum (because his lighting is only for veg).

Credibility destroyed.and will still sleep whether the lights are on or off
