7 weeks "The Tortoise and The Slower Tortoise" I pulled these out of the closet and took pics on my workbench so they did'nt look all pink:

Wonder when it will lose it's baby leaves?

The 2 leaves came out of the dirt twisted at ends and has those odd 2 spots right at each twist, leaves are starting to straighten out

Overall they both look alright.don't worry about those spots on leaves,just some minor tissue damage. I hate to say it but for me at least most of my quicker growing seedlings always turned out to be male.

Don't give up uberknot shit happens. Find a seed bank and order seeds from a quality source. I have gotten every seed I ordered and the seed I am running now can be smelled at the front door and its 5 weeks into veg. My first was grow was full of mistakes just read about other peoples mistakes so you don't have to make them all yourself. I know it sounds risky but you might have better luck.

How are you counting weeks? Did you start counting from soil break or when you added the seed? Found a lot of mixed opinions on the subject.

I am counting from when I first saw it pop through the dirt.

this is true in many plant species when they flower...also the male flowers emerge first and the reason is to ensure successful pollination...its all about survival.
what I see are a couple of mostly healthy seedlings. the twist is irrelevant. did you add a little lime to your soil mix? you can still add it as a tbsp. lime/gal water and that will give you your magnesium (Cannabis are mag whores) as well as temper the ph of your soil.
Ph is important to ensure proper nutrient availability. shoot for about 6.8... at about 5 or 6 nodes tall you'll want to start feeding a week mix of something like Miracle Grow or some other broad spectrum fertilizer.
Soil is a good choice for new growers bc its very forgiving so I'm glad to see you are starting with it.
There's no guarantee that either of those decades old seeds are female. Its easy enough to google how to sex your plants when its time. I hope you get at least one.
Growing your own medicine is a wonderfully addictive hobby and you are definitely in the right place to help you along with your endeavor. My only advice is to start out with a fertile soil mix and as much light as you can afford....the rest is absurdly easy.

Things are sad in the Magneto Garden.
Couple days ago I noticed what looked like a nutrient burn on the leaf tips and with in 2 days it got worse so I went back to take a second look at the soil I had used since my intention was to not feed the plants until they developed. It was from 2 bags what I didn't know was 1 bag was a mix of 2 others and one had nutrients in it for blueberry bushes which from what I read is a high acid loving plant. So I went out and got a bag of Fox Farms Happy Frog unadulterated soil and transplanted them 3 days ago. The soil seemed really moist to me so I have yet to water it and it is still moist a knuckle down into the dirt. They were good for about an hour then started drooping. I wasn't to concerned I have dealt with other vegetable and flowers and figured it would stand back up in due time, like maybe when the soil dried out. The little one is perking back up slowly but the big one seems like the very middle is recovering but not below as just today the big lower leaves are starting to look like they are dying where they touch the soil. When I transplanted I was very gentle and made sure I had the roots contacting soil. Give it more time? Clip the lower leaf off? I also wondered about what I see people do with clones where they clip the tips of the leaves to promote root growth. Here are pics - open to ideas.

Thanks I am going to give it a try and thanks You sent me googling what low torger is and I ended up learning about low and high and turgor pressure pushes the plasma membrane against the cell wall. Funny how biology is very mechanical.

Could be a bit of transplant shock too with the difference in acidity from what they were in to what they are in now. Its recommended to give a watering when you transplant too. That will help to balance out the new environment the roots are in.

I hope they recover, wouldn't be surprised to see that lower leaf die off completely though.

Re, trimming leaf tips. The reason for trimming clones leaf tips it to reduce the mass of the plant so the non rooted stem has less to support, absorbing water wise, I don't mean weight to support.

Your seeds are 30 years old and still viable, you could very well have a strain that no longer exist do to the massive breeding over the years, hope they turn out great please post pics along the way

They looked great in the first pics but the last ones with the curling up leaves is a real problem, (im an older guy myself BTW). Ill let the hydro guys try to help you as im a outside grower.

Your advice looks like it is working - Things are much better this morning. The soil was so wet when I opened the bag I was afraid to water until I saw the dirt dry out a little but I guess it did need watering sooner.

I am using a cfl and some leds they are about 6" from light and really not much heat at all I do have a fan blowing from side so any heat from lamps is pushed around my closet pretty good.

Ah ya got me googlin auto pots lol - those are pretty cool. I have been a electronics hobbyist and ham radio operator all my life so past few years I have been playing with arduino micro controllers for different projects and I have a pump and some soil sensors I have plans to make something similar to that autopot once I get my basement finished so I can have a bigger grow area.

Week later and I think things are recovering from the xplant ok with a few exceptions.
There are some spots on leaves with edges looking burnt
I just noticed today the bigger plant looks like something munched on a leaf. I rustled up a posse of magnifiers and went huntin but I couldn't find any bugs but I am on the watch out.
Big one is growing out weird on top with the half leaves where I had a mishap with some wires that tangled with the top of the plant a week n half a go. Lower on the plant lots of new stuff especially where I removed the damaged leaves.
The short one has lots new growth too just likes to take it's time.
Both are still growing height-wise very slow, the little even slower but lots of new leaves and branches suddenly jumping out on both everywhere in last few days. They look somewhat healthy in that respect but I would like to know whats up with the leaves.

After watering last Saturday it was dry on Wed so I watered again and then again today. Local temps went up here so I had to turn fans up. Room is at 47% humidity and 75-78 degrees.
I have just used rain water(and a little from the yard sprinklers that gets in my bucket) no nutrients given to either plant yet. I tested my soil and it sits around 7 with fluctuation a tiny bit depending on dry or wet soil.
There are some spots on leaves with edges looking burnt. The soil is just FF Happy Frog out of the bag so I wouldn't think it was the culprit. I wondered if it was PH fluctuations from the soil change but if it was would it keep showing effects?

I pulled the bottom leaves away very very gently(if you sneezed the wires fall off) to get light to the new growth.

Swapped out the blue/red led lamps for 2 more 6500k cfl's last night and huge difference in growth just in 15 hours. Think I will retire those led lamps to my kitchen herb garden I don't think they are worth a shit for this application. I would like to feed next watering but I need to figure out my spots; deficiency, ph swing? Help!

Thanks I have been swinging them out each morning at 5 to let them sit in a spot till 1pm where they get direct sun making a huge difference but only so much longer I can do that before they get bigger. So should I not be concerned by the spots on the leaves? Or the discolor on the edges?
