People get so worried just because he can't speak English very well. They're using good cree monos and cxb3070 cobs. Might not be top bin but for the price, it's not that huge of a deal.
its more than that. The website setup is average, pics are poor quality. Hes pushing his stuff in threads, which is normal I guess. I wonder about build quality. Also alot of people want built in usa lights, not that its that important really.
not listing prices... max wattage listed?
Idk. Just a first impression

Prices aren't listed because you can customize it however you want. It's so sad. People on this thread have been shitting all over him, ridiculing him, and straight up making fun of him, and he has been nothing but polite to everyone. It's a shame hes not getting more recognition.
I hope you all realize, RIU is ADVERTISING his lights on their banners now!

I lose interest quick when there isn't a price tag.
I understand they are customizable but there should be 2 options per light. Epistar and Cree. Pretty easy to list 2 numbers.

First you need to email them to understand the difference if you don't have a clue from the start. Them email again for prices. Being 12 hour time difference it could take 2 days just to get a price is sort of foolish.

I cant imagine Riu cares what quality product [within reason] you're advertising, as long as you're paying for the space...

It's not that he's overseas, irrelevant. But he has very very many of the signs and symptoms of being fake.

Sketchy #1: bridgelux epistar like it's one company..? I know there's a gray area of crossover between companies but...

Sketchy #2:
Screenshot_20160527-093909.png
Sketchy #3: what're you shading out in red? Bins?
Screenshot_20160527-105854.png
Sketchy #4: a panel named CX but has no cobs included in the build... strictly flashy advertising.

Screenshot_20160527-111633.png

SKetchy #5: square LES? that's not a vero or cxa/b.... do epistars have square LES?
Screenshot_20160527-111820.png

And if you consider all this nitpicking, fine, I kinda agree, but there should be no question whatsoever to begin with. (Shrugs) they act like they're desperately trying to win you over, not prove something, but win you over with how much they attempt to advertise (personal emails.. [and then blur everything BUT the qtys and colors? that desperate?).

It's very clear they're using rebranded casings, unlike plc, tasty, area 51, Apache, etc that build there's to spec. Instead they're using the old school Apollo style one size fits all casing.

Big flag of generic parts is the customization personally, if you allow me to do that, then what driver are you going to use in place of your stock one to accommodate the new load? Seriously... ask em, see what they say. And if they say I'm just the sales rep not the tech, then.. well, besides the fact you're an uneducated sales rep, try and be proactive/resourceful and contact your companies technician and find out what it would take to accommodate your potential customer if you really want their business. Too much to ask to know what you're trying to sell? Personally, I don't think so.

They showed off their Heatsink compared to other companies.... cool, that's great. It did look better than the compare sink I suppose, "what's the surface area? How are you calculating it's cooling ability? Explain why this is better.. and don't say it has more fins." Again, you're just the sales rep? So what, I'm just a hobbyist... that sucks cus I'm not the one that's uneducated, or not informed about a product that I earn a hard living promoting and distributing. Bet your ass if my families well being relied on selling a product, Id know every inch of that product. And if my customer wanted a different orientation that required higher voltage, I'd be able to spit the part # of the driver I'd use in place from our stock before they asked.

Idk... it's not just one thing that pings, it's the combination of all of it. Now that I've helped him critique his website, ima stop now. It could still very well grow plants, but it's hard for me to believe anything he says.

Check all their product lines and that 3D image pops right out at you. What I see is a STOP sign popping out!

It's not normal. And it's becoming offensive, advertiser or not. Every other advertiser who participates heavily in here is helping people DIY first and foremost.

I have no idea what RIU's policy is, but this is total crap.

@Airwalker16 you need to stop defending spam. Sorry I insulted your buddy, but watts at the wall is fucking meaningless, along with "cree", "ul", "pf 98", and a video of bags as specs.

Sketchy? Yup. Annoying advertising tactics? Yeah, a little bit. Murky product details? For sure. Language barrier? You bet.

Are they bad lights? Not sure about that. The fact is we won't know until someone decides to take one for the team, try one out and report back. Until then just sit back and relax. If they don't make sales I doubt they'll stick around for too long.

Hi

I'm really interested what could be done to replace a 400w lamp in a 60x60 micro scrog.

I'm using a wide spectrum bulb at the moment and considering going to dual bulbs at the end of my next grow so building an LED array will really work to replace that purchase.

I'm competent in wiring, soldering and general DIY so that shouldn't be an issue. All I need is a list of parts (UK ideally, or international supplier) and I'll build from some simple plans.
Hi - this seemed like the thread to ask my question - is anyone able to help?

come on man start reading, when you have specific questions or want input on a proposed setup then come back and ask them.

This is a forum not a cookbook.
I did post my question - 60x60 micro grow. I want an LED solution to replace the current 400w HPS.

I'm new to LED and want help choosing what to buy.

60x60 cm or inches? You say micro but a 400w hps?

Assuming cm, I'd look at Pacific lighting concepts, tasty led, Northern grow lights, or look into diy, it would not take much to light thay up

60cm square. 400w was a gift but I realise it's overkill.

Because it's so small would their be enough room for a solution that covers both V and F. I don't know if it possible to mount LED's into surface mounts and then swap out between veg and flower?
