That's because sweet kills potency. Subcool has started working with potent stuff like the OG strains, the he crosses it with space queen or jillybean and you weaken the OG. My customers don't like sativa because most sativa don't pack a punch like the original road kill skunks that became rare after the introduction of the fruity strains. Tangie will test a lot higher than bubba kush and this is very misleading... unless you smoke them and the Bubba is hands down more potent... just not on paper.
Ya know what? I have to agree with the sweet fruity strains somewhat. Its not across the board as a few are uber potent but its ususally not the case. Just like showy purple strains. Most of them are medium potency at best especially for super high tolerance stoners. Sweet fruity stuff has its place though....chicks love the sweet ones. Alot of normal people dont like to get just totally devastated all the time. But yeah....over the years ive noticed thw sweet ones are not near as potent as funky fuel, skunky, or kushy ttpe strains. Good post. I wonder why that is? Something to do with overall terp profile iam sure. This should be investigated.

I am calling bullshit on most all the cannabis testing percentages. I remember not too long ago Shantibaba was in a video saying that he doubts any cannabis strain in flower form tests over 20% total cannabinoids. And this man has tested hundreds of lines with his CBD Crew so I believe him just can't remember what the video was called tried to find it a week or so ago. I know we do get the 20%+ tests coming out but they are probably doing something wrong.
I have to agree with this post too. Them testing percentages dont mean much to veteran experienced growers. And alot of the real world cannabinoid cotent is probably alot lower than what they supposedly show on the testi g equipment. I kind of predicted this a few years back when testing first started to take off. I thought oh shit. Now watch testing facilities spring up all over and numbers will start getting stupid. And alot of people will take testing percentages as gospel.

Yea I'm still curious though to get my stuff tested . Never will happen as I'm no where near a legal state . However it still intrigues me on how much thc and what terpenes are being expressed . And it can tell me the difference in my lighting as we all know spectrum matter to plants . Hps produces less thc A but my yield is higher . LEDs produces higher thc lower yield and higher terpenes . Stuff to that degree I think it's useful

It is nice to get an idea of just what you grew out with a test report. Especially new stuff in the garden. But i dont put much faith in all this "20%+ club" and bold 30% statements. And newish growers and smokers take this shit as gospel and run with it. And all kinds of bullshit becomes of the new testing reports.....they can tie it in with marketing and hype. That i dont dig at all.

True but it is only going to be useful if every lab test comes out the same if they are all over the place like they are today you can just get an idea unless the tests are 100% or at least 95% accurate you can't trust any of them. The day will come hopefully sooner than later so get out and vote for Bernie Sanders!!! Once federally legal this grey market testing will be a thing for the history books. :bigjoint:

Also you can send in to have weed tested from an illegal state and will post online but it costs a lot more than a pack of seeds and the tried and true puff test.

Another thing that gets me about testing is we all know different labs will give different numbers so if I where to own a dispensary it would be in my best interest to use the lab that always gives me higher test results its a grey market they have nobody to answer to if there lab is not on point.

It can go the other way too. Around my town the dispensaries require you to get a report before they even look at buying overages. And the total cannbinoid content of that report determines the prices they are going to pay for your product. Low percentages they have more leverage to low ball you on price. So who knows what kind of relationship they actually have with the testing people and lab reports. Doesnt affect me so much as my patients take all of my meds. I dont really mess with overages. But it makes you wonder. I trult feel the only thing dispensaries, growers , and customers should be paying the most attention to is whether the tested product is contaminated with pests, diseases, pesticides or fungicides. That is most important in my opinion.

People can relate and tie in the whole total cannabinoid percentage thing with money to affect thier bottom line. We smart experienced growers know them numbers can be bullshit but unfortunately thats what alot of people in this game ($) are doing with the testing reports.

I think THC testing is somewhat accurate but still misleading. So many breeders base everything on lab testing. I asked ben from centennial how he chooses what to breed with and he said its all based on lab tests. Very wrong direction. The biggest excuse breeders use for weak strains is by telling you it has a "clear" high. I want red eyes, munchies and stoned out of my mind. Mexican weed can cause uncontrollable laughter in the right dose, smoke too much and you get super paranoia. Pure sativa goodness, trippy, creative weed but not "clear". Why doesn't weed make you laugh like the old strains? My happy Mexican weed has a certain smell that I associate with potency, it also causes your inner ear to get a warm sensation, the high is a creeper that lasts for hours and it causes déjà vu.

TGA/Subcool gear was all the rage a few years back. I know i grew out well over half thier original catalog. None of it is in my garden today. Amazing flavors and smell. Probably the best for fruity stuff. But the potency....meh....not so much. Chernobyl and Vortex was the most heavy hitting and consistent. Jilly and Agent was nice yielding but hermie prone and subpar in potency. I really liked that deep orange and tangerine taste and smell though. Plushberry had phenos all over the place. Ace of spades was an amazing blackberry jam smell and flavor. Just the potency wasnt up to par. At all. Dairy Queen was certainly different in alot of ways....again lacking potency. Kaboom and Pandoras Box....same thing. Jacks Cleaner and Qleaner was some wierd stuff. Trippy weed but the high quickly left. No legs. And was not stable....kind of fukt my garden and rooms up a few times searching for Subs best phenos. There gear and a few others was what really got me to buy a small tester tent for new seed lines and quarantined cuttigs. Saves me a headache in my production rooms. I highly suggest one (if you have space and are a serious home basemnt grower) for all your new stuff and for males to make your own seeds. Overall there was a common basic theme in all that TGA gear and i spent some coin on all of it. That Space Queen was underlying everything in varying amounts in the strains. My experince with TGA overall was decent. I have since moved on.

can care less about testing too.... just making a point from the other topic how potency/thc is going up....
there's only one potency test that matters... me and my piece....

my buddy sent in his stuff to get tested.... he sent the SAME STRAIN, but labeled them two different strains...
both came back different... hmmmm

There's a dispensary around here that has a cut that tests at 22% CBD-A and 12% THC-A. Could be legit as every other strain they have is 24% or under (including OG). It's making quite a few waves around here in the medical community. Chimera has also tested a cut of Kush (Hightest Kush in his hybrids with it) from around here at 31% THC-A. Tend to believe the results he posts.

It's called Meltdown (The CBD strain).
I've personally sampled three different 30%+ strains, all tested by SC labs, gorilla glue#4, quantum kush, and banana kush.
NONE of them I was impressed with.
I purchased some 707 headband that tested at 22% at the time, and the headband cut RIGHT through the gg4.
When I got the quantum kush I still had some old leftover doubledream from last yrs outdoor, and that doubledream cut right through the quantum kush high, in fact so did my jack herer, and that's usually a 17-20% strain
thc% doesn't mean a whole lot to me.
Unless you sell to the uninformed public that blindly buys JUST according to thc% (which, lets face it, the majority of the public does)
The caveat being that when it comes to concentrates... THAT is when thc% comes into play.
all those 90%+ dabs? Put me the fuck DOWN....
But for flowers? Nah..

Good post....and accurate. I dont really mess with dabs much.....but i do know concentrate percentages do reflect actual real world potency much more than flowers. They got 90%+ dabs out now? Holy shit!!!!Thats just too much for me. I stick to flowers to smoke pretty much. I dont want dab tolerance fuking up my enjoying good flower buds coming from my crops. Iam just a doobie and hash pipe smoker. Always will be. But anyways....damn thats high. 90%....jeez louise!!!

I tried a bunch of his stuff too, agent orange, jack skellington, qleaner, cheesequake...
wasn't impressed.. BUT I did get a NICE querkle... but stupidly didn't get cuts because I was pissed off by all the clone work I did for the others... and of course the ONLY time I don't get cuts... dumbshit..
Anyways.. I do still want to try a pack of jack the ripper.. only because I got a nug of that yrs and yrs ago, and that's shit was STRONG...
But with Bodhi packs at 70 bucks, and all the seeds I already have piled up (too damn many)
it's already going to be at least 18months of pheno hunting as is.. and that's if I do three strains at a time..

I smoked my first dab like 6 months ago... and for like 20 seconds I thought my buddy spiked it with opium or black-tar...
not sure if it's technically a "dab" but its gooey, and looks like it, tastes like it, only gets you absolutely ripped..
Almost not fun, honestly...
three hrs later I still was getting lightheaded when I got up, and damn near passed out putting my shoes on.
And then a month later at hempcon in san Francisco I had some 92% stuff too, and same effect.. Like a weird whooshing sound in your head, followed by that weird pressure behind your eyes... just RIPPED..

Cat piss smelling varieties are straight potent, the stronger the odor the danker. Disregard THC numbers and chuck pollen based on smells. Observe what smell produce what effect. Hunger, pain relief, aphrodisiac, creativity, drowsiness, alertness or laughter. Do the sour smells produce laughter? Also, like you said about the purple, color is related to effect. The best strain in Mexico, probably the world is a very light green with a low pistil to calyx ratio. Like the color of a tennis ball.

I could never get deadhead to give me straight up all female non seeded flowers. Potent as hell but the damn hermie shit made me scrap them. The chem4 og is a true female....mine is anyways. And the yield on her is medium....with decent veg time and topping she can get big but i certainly didnt pick or get the supposed huge yielding chem 4. I think mine leans more towards an og but better yielding than typical og kush. It gives up big buds but not with short veg times. Doesnt like being real close to the lamps either. It can foxtail and get loose on you. I just harvested some recently and it turned out really good. Tried a few different things this run. Potency is extremely high. Taste is really good. I like her.
