Shatter - Homemade

I just started making shatter and I'm just using leaf and a few small buds. This is from first try I dubbed it the outer rim haha. It's a mix of skywalker and 501. Temps were 95 to 105 and I used a hot plate and a pan with water to help keep a steady temp. Run it for about 4 hours. It's moldable and whenever it's in the cold even for a minute it will shatter. What am I doing wrong? Any help I would appreciate it?

personally I would winterize it in ethanol - if I did not have access to a vacuum oven.

Ethanol isn't always available. No where else in Canada @c ray

A reg vac will work.

Starting with a closed loop, then vac oven is best, over DAYS not hours.
That shit takes days to get out of solution ...

how do you heat your vac oven? i saw some the other day and am thinking of getting one..but i didn't see a heat source

I believe it's an oven and does the heating.

Vac "oven" run around 2500$

If you just have a vac..you can put a heating pad under it to keep it at a constant temp.
You don't need a lot of heat when using a Vac, the cooler you can "purge" it the better.

Shatter is over rated...

we use shatter when the pain is really bad. i think if you use it too much, what do you go to when that stops working as well? i don't want to find out

ISO is not as explosive and easier to deal with.
You will have the same effect, if made correctly.


If you take to much of anything, your body can get used to it..
In order to not have this happen. Use a couple different varieties or strains!!

Different is Key..

Me too. You get on the dab train your tolerance goes through the roof. Buds are no longer effective. Plus it's super expensive to buy if your not growing.

When I am using oil heavily (8-10 dabs or more per day) I rarely smoke dry herb, so when I do smoke actual flowers I get way higher than I do from the oil even.

I took two dabs in my life.. Both sent me into unbearable anxiety attacks for about the first 30 minutes of my buzz.

My back pain was completely gone though. Lol. I like the old school oil hot knives if I need an extra kick though I haven't seen anything in Berta.

Unless you were already growing at the time your finances would look the same or worse more than likely.

i knew growers who threw away the trim....I would have asked for it and made it.
i would have made a lot of $$ too....but no way to turn back time. I am glad I know how to do it now

That's like saying that you don't like apples, you're more of a fruit fan. It doesn't make sense. "Shatter" just refers to well-purged, properly made hash oil that has not had air whipped into it to be turned into "wax" or "budder." Everything from Co2 extracts to solventless extracts to BHO/QWISO/Acetone oil fall under the heading of "oil" (hash oil).
