Got a question about cloning

now I've got a question I've always took clones off my plants from seed and then put them in a home made cloner a 5 gallon with a sprinkler which is pretty much hydro but I grow all my plants with soil, so I'm wondering is there a better way to keep it all soil when I take clones or is the method I'm doing a better fail proof method?

The method you are using is just fine, If it works for you no need in changing.

You could put clones in a piece of foam matress as long as you kept them moist and under a dome. If you want to keep it dirt just do your cutting as normal but put them in a solo cup full of dirt instead of your cloner and then stick the cup in a humidity dome. Water the dirt first and make a hole with a stick or something, push the dirt around the stem.

You can use a fresh aloe leaf. dip clone into aloe leaf about an.inch or so move.it around in leaf for good coverage and place clone in soil w humidity dome (solo cup with bag on top) under small light and let it be.
I used a lil cheap 36 site cloner deal and only used water and nothing else

You never did the hard 9 yards with soil and the dome method..?

bubble cloner is a breeze, I get 95% plus returns

with the dirt and dome I'm lucky to get 75%

and in a lot more than 10 days too

try the rockwool or dome method and post back

and yeah! I'm the same clone in dwc?

and grow in organic soils

I have had 100% success cloning in dirt and dome, never tried a cloner and the only time I ever tried rockwool I lost about 25 out of 30 clones due to the rockwool staying too wet. As long as you dont soak the leaves with a sprayer, make a clean cut, and keep the humidity up they will grow roots.

I've also had 100% success with dirt and dome. Only exceptions are when I tried to clone a plant that had a visible nutrient deficiency. I use two plastic cups. Cut in cup in half and I cut an air hole in it. Tape it to the top of my other cup and put Plastic wrap on top. Then I spray the cutting twice a day. I also use cloning gel. I'll take a pic of u want.

Actually have some Strawberry Blue and Hawaiin Skunk Haze cloning right now. Should have root in a about 5 days.

The most effective: Cutting a clone off and sticking it directly into pre-moistened soilless mix without any additive whatsoever.
Second most: Cutting clones and dipping in Indole butyric acid (IBA) and Napthyl acetic acid (NAA) solution for 5 seconds, in plugs in soilless mix.
Third most effective: Clonex Gel dips into any medium hydroponic or otherwise.

Least effective: White willow bark "tea" and dipping clones longer than 7 seconds in IBA/NAA.

The hardcore determination on vigor appears to be cutting your leaves down to nothing and keeping humidity high while letting mother nature do her thing unimpeded. It is best to cut, cram into some soil, crank the humidity high and temp warm, and do what you can to eliminate Damping Off. Do that and you have 96%+ clone success rate.

I have found a short dip in honey and using pure horticultural grade vermiculite on a heat mat with a dome works great. It rinses off easily for a hydro grow or straight into dirt after they root.

Finally a cost effective use for honey! it should do well being antibiotic and antimicrobial plus nothing can get to the plant surface through that layer of sticky protection.

I have posted a some stuff about this subject in the 600 Club thread of this forum. I have been fascinated with cloning for many years. I like to use dirt or rock wool to slow down the process sometimes. I don't like my puppies to overgrow my small grow boxes. "Timing is everything in CGE. (for me anyway). When I'm in a hurry, I use a water cloner. I like the guy's post who said "if it works don't fix it" Personally, I think the way you are doing it now is the best.

No dome needed if you use flying skull clone guard, stops transpiration dead. Toss your dome.

Well I have a large enough air hole so that doesn't happen. But that does explain why that happened everytime I tried cloning in a complete dome. Maybe I should try the other method also.

so i took cuts and put them in a dome and i think have been keeping them too wet. I am gonna throw my clones into coco and try that because its been 10 days and still not 1 root from my 4 clones
I made a bubble cloner but havent used it yet. I guess i should really get that goin.

You will never regret switching to a bubble cloner.

Well i started spraying my dome instead of the cutting themselves. I thought leaves yellowing and dying off were normal but the yellowing stopped. Thanks brah.
