@JimmyIndica
Hey man, I read your comments a few pages back and am totally bummed right now for the shitty experience you encountered on my behalf... however I can tell you what went wrong with the module. The misaligned hole wasn't level-flush with the rest of the surrounding surface, as you pointed out, tied together with the fact that the pre-applied TIM was super slim, creating just enough surface separation between the TIM and COB that it, slowly over time, overheated.
@SupraSPL 's past work concerning heat sinks is spot on, just like everything else he so kindly provides us with, and so it's not that the heat sink+fan combo wasn't enough, as they are rated for ~100W but that I simply fucked up. It was soon after I sent you your fixture that I scrapped the idea of using pre-stock paste, as using aftermarket TIM, such as MX2, makes it x100 easier to file down drilled/tapped holes and allows for super-fluid applications between TIM and COB, thus ensuring the ideal bond that is necessary to keep COBs running cool and effective.
It's only right that I make it right on my end, as you have held up your side of the bargain all of this time and have always kept me in high esteem, even venturing to take a chance with my creativity in it's earliest, most imperfect stages; let me prove my commitment and dedication to you by upgrading whatever you have left, I'll pay for everything, including shipping costs.
I apologize things didn't work out the way they were ought to. I'd like to think that what we learn from what happens in any given scenario, good and bad, helps us ultimately become better.
