Curing....

Posted a thread in the harvesting and curing section but no ones commented so trying here...
Coming up to harvest soon and looking at jars for curing but saw these for a cheaper option, would they work providing they had a gauze to stop me from sucking up all my bud into the Hoover...

Just seen or heard of people using the vacuum bag method so was just wondering what you all thought, I can get 4x945ml jars for £10 over here or 3 of them bags for the same, with them bags I'm pretty sure I'd get it all in but with them jars I'd probably have to get at least 8 so twice as much, was just thinking of ways to save a quid or two but if jars are best I'll do that, how much can you get in them jars?

I have the wide mouth jars and they fit about an oz depending on the strain.

I got this cool hygrometer built into the lid, it helps to make sure I'm on point as far as RH goes.

I use a vacuum sealer / hygrometer combo and it works a treat. I dry slowly for 7 to 10 days (on the branch) to get the humidity of the buds down to 67/68 on a drying rack. Then into the sealer bag with the hygrometer. (Humidity usually rises a bit at the start) I then burb the bags (by un sealing / re-sealing) until i get down to 65 then leave them in there for another 2 weeks... It definitely does 'compact' the buds but does not crush them. Cures a really nice sweet final product.

No mate - once the humidity is at the optimal range the bags get sealed and put at the back of my cupboard.... Ill maybe open once or twice to check the buds but then sealed up again straight away...

I think freezing is for long term storage (ie years) after the cure but mine's rarely lasts that long..

I got a 1.5 gallon jar I fit 11 oz in.... for 15 bucks.... Only needed two of them
Yeah, I'm always on watch for gallon mason jars at auctions and yard sales etc. !!!

You CAN get 1/2 gallon jars as Ball has begun production of them again....

You can always try Ebay for large Jars too....I've gotten plenty from there....

I have noticed that gallon and larger jars require longer cure times........

I'm not shooting for any specific RH......I'm going for time and changes to the chemical disposition of the plant matter or whats in it..

Rh can be adjusted to needs later

Get (24) 32oz mason jars on kmart.com for $40 total. Each jar will hold about an ounce of bud. I have 4 ounces of grinded herb in one jar. You will be good.
