Making a nice little batch of essential oils this evening, normally I go over to a buddies place who has a high quality vacuum oven for the final extraction. I was feeling punchy and impatient so I broke out the foodsaver and the 9X9 container that came with it. I haven't used that container for years, so I figured what the hell.
After all the solvent had boiled off under the vent hood, I started doing my series of extractions.
Water was at 125F, oil was a nice golden amber.
Extractions 1 - 6 went great.
Lucky number 7, I decided to take and give the ol' Foodsaver accessory button a couple extra pushes for good measure.
I leave it floating in the final bath and head to the computer room to smoke a bowl after a good 3 + hours of work.
Half-way through the bowl.
<BOOM>
I haul ass downstairs and find the foodsaver container in shards all over the kitchen with splatters of water all over the place.
The wife and roomie were both in bed so no one was hurt, but 5 minutes earlier I was peering into the container watching the final tiny bubbles form before heading up for a smoke.
I fished my little 2.5g puck out of the water, it was floating on the piece of slick sheet. A hair somehow landed in the water after the explosion and got stuck in the oil and I couldn't fish it out. Oh well it's just for me anyway.
Use quality equipment and do pressure vessels out doors.

I know better.
Now onto this hairy oil.
