I bought my son a rat when he was in the 5th grade & he took it to school for show-in-tell & it became the classroom mascot for the year. The class named him "Scully". He ran free around the classroom all day & everyone petted him....Scully was cool8)
My girlfriend works in sf for a biotech company and she's really into rats/genetics. We've got rats that are extremely rare genetically several varieties she has are had by one our two people in the county. She started breeding then as food for her ball pythons but now hand raises the nice ones and puts then in pet homes. You can look them up if you want. Just Google Pacific coast rattery.

after having problems with them at our last house I am not such a fan of rats lol...

the little ones I put in the greenhouse have little tiny buds started, I forgot to turn the light on on time a few days, ok maybe a week or so. They will start to grow again right?

Yes they will Fumble. They will stall for a couple of weeks and look as if they aren't doing anything and you will start to see more single leaf growth and a reset. :)

On the rats.... Yeah we had to exterminate quite a few at my house as well. No tiny pets for me!

Are you sure those are rats? And not small dogs?
Those are the boys lol.

She's on notice, escapees that run, die and if ever one lives it's game over with the rats lol.
These guys are all really friendly and will come to you so it's not a big deal though.
We had some rattus rattus for a few weeks and they were crazy. They're wild roof rats we got as weanlings and were destined for a domestication project in so cal.

Do your rats get tumors? I had a couple rats before that had tumors. What makes them get em? Breeding practices?

I'm going balls out. Really though I should be fine. These are all seed and nothing is showing sex. The one exception is the nl x bb but tmb did it was already outside with a touch of supplemental lighting.

Note the twilight times for today. In my garden the light comes on @ 5:30am off at 7:30am, then light back on @ 6:30pm and off at 8:30pm, exactly same hours as this week of sunlight with the dawn hours. Plants have been out there for close to a month now, ready for the show next week.

Yea it's about the genetics, pretty much anything you get at a pretty store is going to be shit.
