I agree with you for the most part. There is a time and place for everything. If the baseball player "trims" fat is he not faster.Its never time.
Let a baseball player cut a finger off in spring training..hell pitch faster...

Im talking about certain situations. Like for me and having to hide plants in the woods sometimes lower scruff is removed due to camoflauge blocking light. For me in this instance the yeild is better. Sometimes with a very wet fall if LST to allow air flow slight removal helps reduce chance of mold. I'm not saying it increases yeilds.
A one size fits all approach does not work.
What I'm saying is I don't condone defoliation but there is a time and place for it.
