Banned from smoking in his own home...

So a court has ordered a man not to smoke in his own home in DC. It seems that the neighbors can smell the smoke. Oh and the neighbors have a baby and one in the oven.

A friend of mine in is this spot too. He can no longer smoke in his place due to his neighbors (although he is submitting without court intervention). He can't even go out on one of his balconies and smoke anymore. Plus he has serious health issues (non-smoking related if it matters to you) that impede his mobility.

Is this cool?

In my friend's case they live up above one of the busier intersections in the city. There is constant exhaust and carbon-black floating in and out of their baby's lungs all day from passing traffic. So is it right that they brow-beat their neighborjust because they can smell his smoke?

What if he liked to eat meat and they were vegans?

ok they banned it in resaraunts then they banned the patios,,then your not allowed to smoke in parks and not within 15 feet of the bus stop,and so on,,,now a guy can't smoke in his own place,,F that F them and F Off

How about if your friend likes porn and the neighbors are celibate?

OMG what if your friend was jewish, what kind of controversy could that stir up?

Yeah, but I am still chagrined that smoking in the workplace and shit was kosher as long as it was. I remember my first plane trip after I picked up the habit. I was smoking a cigarette and the row in front of me was non-smoking. Lawl

Actually it's a duplex so they kind of share the living space and smoke is coming in through a hole in the basement. He owns the duplex but still they shouldn't be allowed to tell you that you can't smoke in your own home lol

Yeah, but those things don't actually cause harm to somebody. Cigarette smells could. A vegan could object to meat smells for health reasons too.

I'm not sure what you mean about him being Jewish though. He's gay. Does that factor in?

Gay sets a person up for all sorts of problems. It's worse than I thought. He needs intervention ASAP for his gay-ness and then we gotta kill the neighbors.

But my friends place is a condo, so it is a similar thing. There are no holes and we have caulked everything we can find (it is a loft so it is pretty straightforward.

As an aside, the only thing I can think of to solve my friend's problem is to punch an in-line fan into the wall to switch on and create negative pressure when smoking. I have some experience in odor mitigation.

luckily I work outdoors,,,but I had one lady say she didn't want me to smoke on her property,,so I called the contractor I was working for and said there was going to be an extra on the bill,,he says what for,,I said for smoke breaks were taking in my van on the street cuz this lady doesn't want us smoking on her property,,,I said I can pack up and leave or do the job it's up to you,,,we finished and he paid

It really pisses me of hearing that I don't know if you're talking about cigarettes or weed, but either way that's not right to take people's freedom like that. Btw it always confuses me when people and doctors ask " do you smoke " or " are you a smoker ". I don't know if they mean herb or tobacco, I'm always afraid to ask cause if I do it'll probably create a clue.

Theres some fucks from California that moved next to a chicken coup

That was stupid ya know

Then they complained about the smell of q chicken coup to a friend of a friend

Foaf said nothing can be done and they started a smear campaign against my friend of a friend

Paid a P.I. to investigate him

Paid the news papers to put my foaf in the hot plate for "denying there request for a civilized and stink free homestead"

Boi I wouldn't be surprised if they found more then I few chickens that "ran out" into there house and shit everywhere lmao


There gonna get ran off they done pissed everyone off


I mean I guess its different since they knew a chicken coup smells for miles and a person who smokes outside

My friends had this here 2 years ago. They have a baby and were smoking in the kitchen, which exited into a funnel area which has air but is covered. People keep their washing machines there but can't dry clothes there.

The neighbours were awful, complaining that the smell was making them sick and telling them to smoke in the flat.
Once I arrived and by accident and my bag of weed stank out the lift. I had to battle two of them at my friends front door within minutes of arriving. I informed them that it was legal to smoke at home and told her to close those windows on that side. My friends constantly burned rose Indian josh sticks which to me is much worse. My friends were worried though and smoked without ventilation in the kitchen. The fridge turned yellow!

The police never came round. They couldn't and I made sure the neighbours knew this. They didn't like them because they were foreigners and couldn't speak Spanish, regardless of the new baby they were just nasty.

My best recommendation in this case is what my friends should've done. Use the spare room as a smoking room and fit it with carbon filter extraction. This is a weed site so it's the obvious answer!! Plus it will work!!!

Be a dick in return and call in noise complaints every time the little bastards next door make a peep after sun down. It'd be a cold day in hell when I'm told by my neighbor i can't do something in my own home. Kids offend me.
