Get two particularly a brother and sister, I'd fix the female and stud the male out. You need two because they will find there roles. My male would be the greeter and the female would be the watch guard. Don't get ones that are to big, 80lbs top for a healthy male. They live about 14 years on average, biggest problems are skin and hip failures. They are extremely smart dog and one of the best guard dogs. You need a big yard because they love to run. They have a insane amount of energy and love water. If I lived in the country I'd buy a Doberman if I live in the city I'd buy a Rottweiler.. both are great dogs, but Dobermans will always be my favorite. Look foward to spending about 800 to 1400 for a nice German lineage. They come in three colors black and tan, blue and red. The blues are beautiful and get a ton of attention

Thanks for the thoughts Dank. I do live in the country and have been trying to get my mind wrapped around how much exercise and attention they're gonna need. Last had a border collie that lived to be 19. I also have three cats so that may get tricky, as I don't want their lives to compromised by the addition of dogs. Figured I'd create dog runs for them. I've always imagined having a dog moat around 3/4 of my house. Talk about badass security!! I'll be asking u more specifics about breeders and such as I get more serious. Thanks

I had a cat, they had a understanding but got along great, if you get puppies the cats and dogs will be fine together. They do require tons of attention thats why It's better to have two. Well border collies are considered to be the world's #1 smartest dog and I think dobies are like 2 or 3 depending on who makes the list. But they are also in the top 5 best guard dogs... great companions...
