I think people are confused about what a troll is. I hear people using the word on Live Youtube stuff about people they don't like, and all the time in forums, if someone posts topics that someone doesn't want to see, instead of ignoring it they will actually go in to the thread and call the person a troll just for creating a topic they don't like.

So, I thought I would explain what a troll is to people.

"Trolling" comes from Fishing, where you "Troll" around in a boat and try to get a fish. So, a "Troll" isn't someone that sends you a tweet that says "Fuck You", that is just someone that doesn't like you.

Here is an example of an ACTUAL troll:

First a regular person creates a thread, talking about Religion, or Herbs, or maybe even Aliens. Let's say your post is about Politics, say you saw the 2014 Midterm elections and made a thread about why you think the outcome was what it was...

The troll will read this thread about Midterms and your opinions, and instead of actually responding to ANYTHING you said, they will say "Wow, you are such a child" JUST to get an emotional response, then they will pretend they didn't do anything, and start to ask questions that have to do with Politics. THEN, they will pretend that you didn't answer them properly, and just insult you again to get a response. And it goes around in circles.

THAT is a troll.

No, I actually talk to people that don't agree with me. Ex: Cannabineer, and some people that tell me what to do when growing.

I call people trolls who troll me. And I tell people who tell me to buy grow equipment to stop telling me to buy things.

You are very mistaken in thinking that I call people that don't agree with me Trolls.

My use of the word "Troll" started with the User CryptKeeper here on RIU, because he would... You guessed it, troll me.

Then came Uncle Buck who thought he could hurt my feelings by showing people who my family was and then other people followed his lead by making meme's about me and my family.

And I called those people trolls. Then I called the people who followed that tradition "trolls".

But everyone else I call ass holes, or just post :lol: and stuff like that @Them, I have lots of haters and I have also talked about them. They are just haters, there is a difference between haters and trolls.

And to underline that observation, let me point out the title again:

"People you don't agree with aren't trolls" [uh yeah, that would be weird, if everyone I disagree with, of which most people don't even know I do, would be trolls]

instead of:

"People who don't agree with you aren't trolls".

It's like he was almost there... "those people who don't agree with me aren't actually trolls...".
