After doing research on ISIS, I changed my mind about intervention with regards to them. They truly are barbaric, controlling and I'll be damned if any one tries to convert me (atheist) or die. I am very much a pacifist in most instances, live and let live. But what ISIS is doing to a variety of different ethnic groups is beyond the pale. Plus they have no problems executing people for drugs and alcohol.

Intervention per Obama is a 1/4 can of mosquito spray in the swamps. Lasts until the next wind blows.

As ISIS has already arrived in the US, perhaps you could learn some phrases like 'Allah Akhbar' and such to fake 'em out before your beheading. :fire: Especially since you'd not be betraying any already held religious belief.;)
 
Well tell them decapitating fucks to bring it to my door then cus I got a 12 ga and way to much target load to get rid of, start a "cleansing" myself.... when the pope says go ahead and shoot them to stop what they are doing that should open some eyes.

My neighbors are a wonderful Muslim family. Couldn't ask for better neighbors. Father works two jobs and is a good, hard working man. His kids are well behaved and his wife is a very nice woman. I can't disparage an entire religion for the actions of a few.

All that phrase means is "God is great". It's a normal saying that is used in many different situations.

I know we don't necessarily agree politically, but I know you are not stupid. I've been around Muslims for years, spending a lot of time in Dearborn. They want the same things as us. Safety, opportunity and freedom.

Eta do you know any Muslims? If not, why not reach out to their community, they are not bad or scary people. Quite the opposite I've found and never proselytize like Christians do.

LOL ! No one is 'bad or scary' until they become 'bad or scary'. I'm not looking to win an argument, witness, convert , or "proselytize like Christians do". But in this exchange, I'll point out that there are no armys of "Christians" on a mission of genocide and world domination. Though you'll likely try and equate other 'Christian' behaviors as equally undesirable, or cite prior historical conflicts, etc.....it all adds up to what Paul Simon wrote years ago- "A man hears what he wants to hear...and disregards the rest".

The old testament wasn't acceptable in modern times and was changed, Islam's clerics if they had humanities best interest at heart, like they keep saying they do, would revise the damn texts that tell them to kill me and to infiltrate the western world to kill us from within. Their religion states they can disregard teachings as to infiltrate our societies and attack from within without raising suspicion. Why is it ok for the Qur'an to say to kill everyone different, but Mein Khampf was evil? Cause the Qur'an is a religious text? It should be banned in the western world until they revise the violence and hatred out of it. The atrocities committed in the name of Islam are just as horrific as the committed in the name of Hitler. Islam has been at it longer and is continuing to get away with genocide.

I am intolerant of a religion that says it's members should kill me for not believing, not only that they should feel good about killing me because they have done the lords will. The same damn way I am intolerant of neo-nazi's spreading hatred.

How on earth does anyone accept that book? How is there not weekly burnings in the street? Oh cause we'll hurt feelings? and all religions should be respected? So if Hitler made Nazism a religion instead of a political movement we would have respected it? It's no different, it's genocide.

I can disparage a religion, I have no problem, being part of that religion is a choice, and so is the hatred. If there are peaceful members that's fine and dandy, but they aren't the majority, the majority is tearing up the middle east and stoning people in the street. These stoning incidences are villages of people killing another person... that's fucked up.

But there are armies of American troops all over the Middle East. Their mission? I wouldn't say genocide describes it well, but world domination and imperialism might fit.

And with your Obama "bug spray" comment above, I get the sense that you feel another war is the answer to the problem.

I honestly don't know what the answer is, and I don't much care for radicals of any stripe.... but I get the sense that blowing up their homes, wives, and children doesn't bring us any closer to peace. It does make a handful of folks a lot of money though, so for that I guess we can be thankful

The United States could have owned the earth many times had that been the desire - because of superior force and riches. We didn't. Rather, we poured billions into defeated Japan [for instance] who's goal was to conquer the U S. Go figure!

Questions for you: [1]was the United States militarily engaged in the Middle East before the attack on it's home soil on 9/11?
[2] Prior to 9/11, could the U S have invaded and conquered it's choice of Middle Eastern countries with it's vastly superior army, weaponry, dollars, and technology? Then why didn't they?
[3] When you fought - hockey players fight, yes? - did you fight to win?

We need Stephen Hawking and Neil DeGrasse Tyson of the Middle east to find a solution, us "unbelievers" can't solve the problems there. It will never be accepted which is why war will never work, you will never beat a people into submission that has been taught to fight for their religion for 1000's of years.

Tough to say how many Muslims adhere to the fundamentalist ideology. I'm not sure that I would agree that a majority do, but I could be wrong.

The question is, what can be done about it? People that believe that there is a man living in the clouds, and they will spend eternity with him doinking virgins and racing camels are a tough lot to reason with. This is where religion can be a dangerous thing. It takes common sense off the table as a bargaining chip.

Maybe instead of dropping bombs on the middle east would could drop science textbooks? :bigjoint:
