I notice Hans has only a 2-year warranty. How does it work after the warranty? Are you able to buy replacement parts from Hans at a reasonable price?

Also, the cooling design seems a bit minimal. I'm in a hot climate. Is the light's cooling design sufficient for an ambient room/tent temperature of 82-84 F (28-29 C)?

From what I can tell Hans uses off the shelf parts so everything can be replaced with or without him though I haven't taken it apart to see how feasible that is for the average tinkerer, (like me), to do. I don't even know if they're mounted on stars or whatever I bought them because they're incredibly light and wanted some very efficient diodes that didn't involve me breathing in solder fumes. Yuck :). The 80s in my tent run a bit hot for my tastes but are still sooo much cooler than my Vipar was and yes plants can get real close to Hans panels. I've been concerned about junction temps because my growroom can get very hot in the summer and how some sections of the panel get a bit hotter after being on for a bit so I may mod them. Self sticking copper heatsinks like they make for those mini computers but a bit bigger sound about right since they should draw the heat away from the panel relatively fast but maybe there is a cheaper alternative.
 
If you live in a "hot" climate or running Hans in summer grows I would suggest using the 65w unit. Cheaper, diodes are driven softer(higher efficiency), Seems to be the same mcpcb/cooling system(?) at a lower power draw. Personally I would just always pick it regardless, don't think the small output bump on the 80w ver. is worth it imo.

Mine went to hell and back and didn't skip a beat . The flaw on it is the chinese remote driver, which can fail.

I would love for Hans to go back to the cree xp-e 630nm diodes, but he's set on keeping his price point.

No idea how it works after the warranty's end... All i know is that when I fucked one of my panels when opening it up (was my fault so didnt asked for the warranty), Hans made the repair + upgrade from 65w to 80w + shipping for... 50€ and I got it back less than a week later. He was pretty fast and helpful in all the emails I've ever sent, thats why Im sticking with his panels. 101% satisfied.

I'd say your temps are the max I'd go. Its similar to mine right now but I wouldnt want them to go higher (past 85f/31c) even if I didnt notice any problem til now. That much heat cant be good anyway. I took one hans 65'er out of the 4/4 tent and the temp is just 1°C higher than outside of it. I have another 4/4 tent with an XGS 190 but that one runs pretty cool, inisde of the tent is cooler than the room temp it is in (25-26 inside, 28-29 outside). Im wondering if 2 XGS would run cooler than 4 Hans...



*Update
Took the temps right now and things have changed since I took out one Hans panel.

Room temp where the growtents are: 32°
Growtent with 3 x 80watt + 1 x 65watt Hans inside temp: 29°-30°
Growtent with 1 x XGS 190 inside temp: 27°C

I weighed out the dry weight of my first harvest (one plant) under one Area 51 SGS-160 and some UVB reptile bulbs started 21 days into the flower cycle.

I got a little over 91 grams.

It's been in the curing jar for about 20 days. The humidity gauge in the jar reads around 65-66%. It smokes just fine, but t's still got more moisture in it than it will in a few months when the curing process is done.

The best news is that the weed is very potent an tastes fantastic! I can't wait for a few more months when it's going to be even tastier.

This next run is going to be three clones of the original plant and one other plant that I'm growing from a feminized seed that a friend gave me. I'm going to use the same A51 light and also will be adding some Home Depot Cree fixtures (I made) for side lighting. I'm also LST'ing everything.

Although I don't have any big-time grows under me, I've really been impressed by my beginner's luck with the Area 51. It worked very well for me throughout the entire cycle and is still going strong.

Like I say, I got a little over 91 grams from a 155 watt light from a strain that's supposed to be a moderate producer (Vortex). I know I can do better than that with some better growing techniques, but 3+ ounces is going to last me quite awhile!

If I had to buy that amount of weed at the dispensary, then it would cost me over a grand. And that's about what I invested in all my equipment to get started, so…

Awesome find, I am going to to assume you mean the 3070-0000-00N00Z450F. Those are 5000k 80CRI bottom bin chips, and though alot people here are flowering with cxa3070's, most are doing it with 3000k chips or a mixture of both. I would love those Z4 5000k for veg, but IMO your going to need to add some red as they would be too blue for flowering alone.

I would just throw them in the garbage, may I suggest the dumpster out back of my building.

I had planned on ordering some Growblu 225W Super UFO's after seeing a few journals and how well they had performed for some people (I may or may not be basically copying Justintime's grow). Anyways I called them up to ask a question about the warranty and no one picked up.... ever. The voicemail isn't even custom, its some default google subscriber one. Not that any of it matters because no one responds to the voicemails. Emails? Every address I could find on their website bounced right back. I tried calling a few weeks later and now it doesn't even ring. Straight to default voicemail.

For me it's difficult to trust a product, let alone a warranty, when they have literally no form of functional communication. In conclusion; I need me a new light.

3 of these ^^^^ panels would give you the maximum yield/coverage in your space using an indica dom strain...

Thank you so much for your response. LOL. I really lucky. Once I got everything home I also found two more foil packets with 3590 but no other numbers to ID what bin how much K or CRI , two 2520 I believe this are Q435H and 1507 G20E6 and four LPC-60-1400 and one CXA cob floating in the bottom just has CREE on the front, paper work for the 2520 and 1507 that is how I know what that are. This is I addition to the 4 3070. I have two rooms ,one has two 600k MH and is 4feet wide by 9 feet that is my Veg room and is on20/4off, my flower is 6x12. The flower is mostly12/12 with 3000k HPS. I need some advice. I would like to best utilize what I have found and buy some additional LED equipment and replace the two 600 in the veg room. I know I will need to invest in more equipment. So how would you suggest to proceed from here?

I miss posted 2 2520's and two1507's and one unknown and two 3590 and 4 3070 and 4 lpc-60-1050 and 4 lpc-60-1400 and 5 CPU heat sink fans and one Ac to Dc power supply (Rhino). Alright what are I'm I going to make?

Just to be clear, when I say 5000k and 3000k I am talking about the color temperature in kelvins where you seem to be using it as wattage.

The CXA2520-0000-000N00Q435H is 3500K 80 CRI and so is the CXA1507-0000-000F00G20E6. All will work excellent for vegging. The unknown loose one, is it the same size as any of the others? that would help to know. You can use the four 1400 mA drivers with the four CXA3070 on pc heat sinks, but you will need to power the fans with a 12v power supply. Those 4 alone should be close to replacing one of your 600's for veg. The 3590's will need drivers and heat sinks then you can plug them in and compare color.

There are a few threads dedicated to the Cree cob on here, you should read as much as you can if you going to get in to DIY.
