Somehow this is less scary to the racists of rollitup than the oogily boogily mooslamic terrorists supposedly foisting their religion on the UK populace.

It's that time of year again! McDonald's is running their Filet-O-Fish Fridays promotion through the end of lent. The price may vary somewhat regionally but in El Segundo, CA it is $1.49 and I've never seen a restaurant in SoCal that didn't run this promotion every year (but the price sometimes varies a little). I know what I'm eating every Friday for the next several weeks...


I believe this promotion will be good through Friday 4/18. I asked my local McDonald's and the guy told me it is good through the end of the month but I think that is probably because promotions are announced to the stores monthly.

How many other places cave to Catholic demands and have fish for sale? Hell, I remember that school lunches had a fish option during lent, but I didn't bitch about the Catholics pushing an agenda on us. It is ridiculous how much people fear Muslims:

Mcy D's needs all the customers they can get, I haven't seen one so empty in years. Growing up we were always really poor and Mc Donald's would be the place to get the good good... only once I realized that shit was killing me I stopped cold turkey.

Never again, unless I am starving literally starving.

I don't see any evidence here suggesting catholic groups were demanding anything.

Catholics don't eat much meat through Lent. McDonald's puts a fish product on sale as a loss leader to capture revenue on soft drinks, french fries and apple pies.

Furthermore, this is an existing product, being placed on sale. Non catholics and bad catholics can still order all the double quarter pounders they want.

This is a fail analogy. To be similar, McDonald's would have had to agree to not serve any meat products through Lent, thereby affecting members of all faiths.

I think you might be right. I know that for mardigras in new Orleans they shut it down at midnight on ash wenesday.

It's a big party. But maybe they have the big party to prepare for the month long lent to follow easter.

This has no similarity whatsoever to the UK Muslim story. McD's is not taking things off the menu , reducing choice, its merely offering a better price to take advantage of the market.

Couldn't be the prices now could it? Most items are up 30-40% over the last 4 years.

According to Bucky, there is no inflation if you merely adjust for it.

What a ridiculously horrible comparison.

How the hell is eliminating food products to make one religion happy the same as adding food products to a menu to keep customers coming in? Hell, McDonald's isn't even changing their menu in any way, they're just reminding people that they still offer options during a time they might be restricting their diet.

Your school option remark doesn't make any sense either, they didn't eliminate anything, they only added an additional option.

just wanted to mention if you are looking for a deal at mcd's, you get bogo's in the junk mail on wed/thur and in the sunday paper..so check before you toss out the junk or sunday paper.
